OCTOBER 2009
October is a wonderful month for us here at the Mission
Office. We enjoy so much the WBF Fall Meeting each year. It is a time when we
can fellowship with pastors, missionaries, and other Christian workers and hear
great preaching and singing. At the Fall Meeting the emphasis is on the
missionary work of the fellowship and we are always blessed by hearing from a
number of our missionaries as they preach and present their field reports. It
is also a time of blessing for our missionaries as they visit the Mission Store
and select needed items for their homes and ministries on the field. These
Mission Store items are an expression of love from people all around the country
and are greatly appreciated by our missionaries. The Special Mission Offering
is received at the Fall Meeting each year and it helps us greatly in our
continuing ministry to the missionaries we serve. You make the Fall Meeting a
success each year through your prayers, your attendance and your participation
in the Mission Store and Special Mission Offering.
Joe
and Elaine Hawkins returned to Brazil on September 18, 2009 following
medical treatments. Both are still recovering from surgery, but they felt that
they had to get back to the work. Pray that they will both do well as they labor
for the Lord there.
Robert and
Marcia Steffens have arrived on the field in Mexico to begin their work
among the Tarahumara Indians. They are excited about the first services there.
Pray for them as they get established in their home and adjusted to the climate
and the culture there.
Byrom and
Carolyn Martin & children have returned to Mexico following furlough to
continue their ministry among the Mayo Indians. Pray for them as they labor for
the Lord.
David & Carole Ross
have arrived in the U. S. for furlough. Pray for them as they get settled and
visit their supporting churches.
Alan and Kathy
Hart have arrived from Mozambique for a six-month furlough while their new
paperwork is being processed. Pray that this will go well and they can return
to the field in April of 2010.
Tim
and Betty Hawkins have arrived from Brazil for furlough. While having a
medical checkup, Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be meeting
with a surgeon and oncologist to determine the best course of treatment. Pray
for her during this time.
Frank and Darla
Brim & children are returning to Brazil for their next term of service.
Pray for them as they return to the work; especially Darla, who has had some
health problems.
Little
Eliana Densmore is still very ill. She has spent almost the last month in
the hospital and is not doing much better at this time. The doctors are
considering surgery for her to place stents in her pancreas in an attempt to
help her overcome the infections. This will be a very risky surgery for her.
Please remember her and her family in your prayers.
Debi Harris
is recovering from surgery and will have another during October. These
procedures will hopefully help her to avoid a much more serious surgery that may
be necessary if they do not solve her problems. Please pray for Debi and Phil,
that she will be improved following these surgeries. Debi’s MS complicates her
other medical problems and makes each surgery more dangerous for her.
Please pray for the following missionaries as they struggle
with physical problems: Doyle
Whaley, Linda Carruth,
Jodell Powers,
Rebecca Hawkins,
Dana McCutchen,
Mary Gagnon,
Mike Lane,
Charlene Neill,
Sandy Janky,
Dale Brown,
Ernie Brown,
Monnie Bacon,
Gloria Higgins.
We appreciate the faithfulness of each church and each
individual Christian who faithfully pray and give so that the Gospel message can
be preached to the world.
