JUNE 2009

Summertime for missionaries is like summertime in churches here in the U. S.  It is a time for Vacation Bible Schools, youth camps, and other special programs.  However, summer for those in the Southern Hemisphere falls during the months of December, January and February.   No matter when it comes during the year, it is a time of fruitfulness spiritually.  Special services for children and teens mean more opportunities to see souls saved and lives changed.   The investment of time and money into these summer programs is a wise investment that pays eternal dividends.   There are missionaries on the field today who were saved and called into the Lord’s work at youth camps or Vacation Bible Schools.   They are running these same type of summer programs in hope of seeing others saved and called.   When they ask for your prayers for their VBS and camp programs, please call on the Lord on their behalf.

The Annual World Baptist Fellowship Meeting was a time of great blessing.  The meeting marked the 70th anniversary of Arlington Baptist College and was well attended.  The Monday evening Family & Friends Reunion was a special time of blessing as old friends were reunited and new friends were made.  The preaching during the meeting was powerful and effective.  The music was Christ honoring.  During the meeting Dr. David Bryant was honored at his retirement and Dr. D. L. Moody was welcomed as the new President of the College.

Make your plans now to attend the WBF Fall Meeting that will take place October 12-14, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Canton, Michigan.  Pastor Ray Haselhuhn has chosen the theme, “Remembering God”.  He and the church staff and membership are working hard to make this another great time of fellowship.  During the Fall Meeting we will hear from a number of our missionaries and the Annual Mission Store will take place.  The Host Motel for the meeting will be:  FAIRFIELD INN, 5700 Haggerty Road, Canton, MI 48187; Phone – 734-981-2440.  The special rate is $64.00 per night plus tax.  The deadline for reservations to get the special rate is September 21, 2009.  After that date the cost will be $119.00 per night.

Pray for our Annual Candidate Seminar and Missionary Retreat.  The seminar will begin on July 29, 2009 and the Retreat will be August 10-13, 2009 at the Minnetonka Christian Camp in Clayton, Oklahoma.  We are looking forward to seeing new families become a part of the WBF Mission Family.

Pray for those in our missionary family who are battling illness:   Mike Lane, Doyle Whaley, Debi Harris, Dale Brown, Monnie Bacon, Mary Gagnon, Charlene Neill, Sandy Janky, Joe Hawkins, Rebecca Hawkins, Eliana Densmore, Gloria Higgins, Amber Cato, Juanita Bowen, Darla Brim, Linda Carruth, Marty Starling, Dana McCutchen.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and financial support for our missionaries around the world.  Even in tough economic times, God has provided and you have been faithful to give.  I am thrilled that through the first five months of 2009 we have received more support than during the same period last year.  God is good!  Thanks, also, for the faithfulness of those churches that support our General Fund.  We could not serve our missionaries without you.
