NEWSLETTER
MAY 2009
It is a blessing to see the faithfulness of God’s people in
churches all across our nation who give faithfully to missions each month.
Although the economic situation is making it more difficult, we
have seen the sacrifices made because of love for lost souls.
Total offerings for 2009 are down a little from the previous year,
but this is certainly not surprising.
God continues to provide the needs of our missionaries, as He has
promised that He will do.
As we begin the month of May, we are
looking forward to the World Baptist Fellowship Annual Meeting at
Arlington Baptist College. This
year will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the
school in 1939. God has
blessed the school, the Fellowship and the Mission Agency through these
many years and we anticipate many more years of blessing.
Plan to attend this great family reunion, May 11-14, 2009.
Skip
& Dana Woodfin and children are scheduled to leave for the field
of Indonesia on May 2, 2009. Pray
for them as they go to this new field that they will soon be settled and
beginning their language study. We
believe that the Lord has a great ministry in store for them in Indonesia.
Matt,
Flor and Andrew Patton will arrive from the Dominican Republic on May
11, 2009 for furlough. Pray
for them as they take care of last minute preparations for their trip to
the U. S. Pray also for
the work there in their absence.
Missionary Ed
Richards was attacked and stabbed as he returned home from a Youth
Meeting on March 27, 2009. His
wounds were serious but not life-threatening, for which we praise the
Lord. The Richards have no
idea why someone would attack him. Pray
for their protection as they labor for the Lord there in Dominica.
Joe
and Elaine Hawkins came from Brazil for medical tests and treatments.
Bro. Joe is recovering from the broken collarbone and they are
doing heart tests on him. Before
they return to Brazil, Elaine will probably have to undergo knee surgery.
Pray for both of these dear servants of the Lord, who have spent
more than 52 years serving the Lord in Brazil.
Please continue to pray for Doyle
and Wanda Whaley. Doyle
still has not recovered any hearing, and this makes it very difficult for
him and for Wanda as she cares for him.
Marty
Starling is recovering from knee replacement surgery in Florida.
Pray for a quick recovery for him, as they would like to return to
Mexico in time for camp season.
Little Eliana
Densmore has been approved by the FDA for an experimental treatment
with ketones, which the doctors hope will improve her metabolic condition.
This is a very rare illness, and she is only the second person in
the U. S. to receive these treatments.
Pray that this will help her in her life long battle with illness.
Pray for the following missionaries who
battle illness on a daily basis, but continue faithfully in the work:
Debi Harris, Darla
Brim, Dana McCutchen,
Gloria Higgins, Monnie
Bacon, Mary Gagnon, Amber
Cato, Mike Lane, Dale
Brown, Sandy Janky, Charlene
Neill, Linda Carruth.
We appreciate so much your faithfulness
in prayer and financial support for our missionary families, and also for
the General Fund and the Mission Office personnel.
We fully understand that your faithfulness is what makes it
possible for our missionaries to continue to serve the Lord around the
world.
