JANUARY 2009
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
As we begin the year of 2009, we have an opportunity for many new
beginnings. We can follow
the example of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13, “forgetting those
things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are
before.” Even though it is impossible to “forget” the past, what
the Apostle meant is that we should not dwell on the past; either on the
negative or the positive, but rather, look forward to new challenges and
new opportunities. We
thank the Lord that 2008 was a wonderful year for our missionary
families with manifold blessings.
At this writing, I have not received the total of the offerings
sent in for our missionaries, but we have reached a new record amount,
even in the face of a struggling economy.
This is testimony to the faithfulness of God’s people in
churches around the country who have sacrificially given for the cause
of world missions. While no
one can be certain what lies ahead for this coming year, we are certain
that the Lord will continue to provide for His children, and we know
that they will continue to be faithful to pray and give so that souls
may be reached around the world.
We have received the wonderful news that Alan
and Kathy Hart have been advised that their visas for Mozambique
have been approved. They
will now be able to go forward in the work without the possibility of
having to leave the country. We
praise the Lord for this wonderful news.
Pray for the Harts and the great work that the Lord has for them
there in Mozambique.
Terry,
Tami and Tobijah Morse will be leaving this month for French
Polynesia. Pray for them as
they begin their ministry on this new field.
There are many islands in French Polynesia and they hope to be
able to plant churches on many of these islands.
Pray that they will be able to secure the boat they need for
their travels from island to island.
Jim
& Melissa Mitchell and children have arrived from England for
their furlough. Pray for
them as they get adjusted and begin their furlough travels.
Bro. Jim will also have some necessary medical treatments.
Ernie
Brown has received the o.k. from his doctors for them to return to
Ecuador. They will be
completing their furlough travels this month and will return to the
field in February, the Lord willing.
Pray that all will go well for them as they plan to return to the
field.
Please remember those in our missionary family who
have health problems: Mike
Lane is still undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Dale Brown
continues to do well in treatment for MS.
Debi Harris
is struggling to recover from pneumonia caused by her MS. Little
Eliana Densmore is somewhat improved, but still has very serious
health issues. Helen
Smith continues her recovery from surgery.
Juanita Bowen
is doing well in recovery from knee replacement surgery.
Doyle Whaley
continues his battle with Alzheimer’s and pulmonary hypertension.
Mary Gagnon, Monnie
Bacon, Gloria Higgins,
Joe Hawkins, Darla Brim,
Amber Cato, Ernie
Brown, Dana
McCutchen, Charlene Neill
and Sandy Janky all fight
daily battles with illness and need our ongoing prayers.
Thank you for allowing the WBF Mission Family to be
partners with you in your missionary outreach.
We appreciate the prayers and faithful financial support that
make possible the ongoing ministry around the world and here at the
Mission Office.
