FEBRUARY 2007
February is known as the month of love.
Sweethearts young and old exchange gifts and expressions of love on Feb.
14th, Valentine’s Day. We
should be reminded by this of the overwhelming love of God for the world.
The praises of the Apostle John on Patmos should also be ours, “Unto
Him who loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us
kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever
and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:5b-6). We
have so many reasons to love God. The
Lord Jesus stated that the greatest commandment was, “Thou shalt love the Lord
thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength,
and with all thy mind;…” (Luke 10:27). John stated it so very beautifully and simply in I John
4:19, “We love Him, because He first loved us.”
The Lord Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John
14:15). His last commandment to us
was the Great Commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every
creature. If we love Him, we should
do our best to obey Him. We will do
what we can to send the Gospel message to the ends of the earth.
We can do this by faithfully praying for the salvation of souls and for
the missionaries whom God has called and sent out to the fields of the world.
We can do this by giving as the Lord leads and provides to send the
message of salvation to the world. We
can do this by giving our own selves to the Lord, as the Macedonian Christians
of long ago did. God still calls
out men and women to carry the Gospel. He
will use you and me to carry the Gospel across the street or across the sea, if
we will just place ourselves at His disposal.
If we love Him, let’s do it.
Pray for Doyle
and Wanda Whaley as they return to Guatemala for another term of service.
God has blessed and used them for many years in that country and He still
has work for them to accomplish there. Mark
and Dana McCutchen have returned to Brazil for their next term of service.
They look forward to planting a new work in the Sao Paulo area during
this term of service. Ed and Cindee
Richards have arrived for furlough. Pray
for them, especially for Ed, who will have a lot of dental work done while they
are in the States.
Please remember the following missionaries who have
health needs: Monoka
Brown is recovering from gall-bladder surgery and will also undergo heart
tests this month. Juanita
Bowen is doing well in recovery from back surgery.
Helen Smith is
recovering from surgery in Brazil, Saundra
Henderson is having some complications in her recovery from surgery and Florence
McDonald is recovering from surgery.
Pray for Debi Harris,
Monnie Bacon, Gloria
Higgins, Larry Koehn, Joe
Hawkins, Wanda Whaley, Mary
Gagnon, Sandy Janky, who have
ongoing health problems. Sammy
Jo Myers will have another checkup this month in her recovery from cancer.
Pray that she will remain cancer free.
We praise the Lord for another record year in total
offerings for our missionaries. We
received a total of $6,639,041.52 during 2006 for which we are so very thankful
to God and to His faithful children. We
do have a need, however, for additional support for the General Fund.
Support for the General Fund has not really increased in several years,
although the operating expenses of the Mission Office continue to increase.
Please join us in prayer that the Lord will supply the need each month
for the General Fund. If you
already support the General Fund, thank you so very much!
If you do not support the General Fund, please pray about taking it on
for support. Even a small amount
from each supporting church would meet the need.
Thank you for your prayers and for your faithfulness.
