JANUARY 2007
They say as you get older time seems to pass faster.
I think it must be true because it seems that just yesterday we turned
the calendar to January of 2006 and here we are now entering the year 2007.
We look back over a year filled with both great joy and great sorrow.
Our missionaries around the world experienced the blessings of seeing
many souls saved, believers baptized, and new works organized.
We also saw some of our missionary family go through times of serious
illness and then enjoy recovery from their illnesses.
During 2006 we said farewell to two of our faithful missionaries:
Miss Bessie Millican
and Bro. Jack Weaver.
Both of them departed this life after long battles with illness and for
them it was a time of victory. For
their loved ones it was, and still is, a time of grief and bereavement.
Their sorrow, however, is tempered with the assurance that their loved
ones are “absent from the body” but “present with the Lord”.
We look forward to this coming year with great
anticipation that it will prove to be a year filled with good reports from our
missionaries of many more souls saved and other new works opened. We know that we are drawing near to the time with the Lord
will return, and we all need to be found faithfully serving Him when He comes.
We rejoice in the blessings and provision of God, and
the faithfulness of His people, that we saw another record year in 2006 in total
offerings received for our missionaries. At
the time of this writing, the final totals are not in for the year, but we
received more than $6,500,000 in
missionary support. Praise God for
His blessings and thank you for your faithfulness in giving to reach souls
around the world.
Don and
Mary Rowland will return to their work in Mexico in January following
furlough. Jerry,
Bonnie and Timothy Bitner are still waiting for the completion of their
paperwork so that they can return to the field. It appears that Mexican immigration authorities have
misplaced their documents. Pray
that this process will soon be completed. Ed
and Cindee Richards will arrive for furlough in January from Dominica.
Pray for the following missionaries who have health
issues:
Sandy Janky,
Juanita Bowen, Florence
McDonald, Saundra
Henderson, and Helen
Smith are all recovering from surgery.
All are doing well in their recovery.
Pray for Monnie Bacon, Debi
Harris, Gloria
Higgins, Mary Gagnon, Joe
Hawkins, Larry Koehn, Wanda
Whaley, Stella Mayo, who have
ongoing health problems. Sammy
Jo Myers will have another cancer checkup in February. Pray that she will remain cancer free.
We appreciate your ongoing faithfulness in prayer and
financial support, not only for our missionaries around the world, but also for
the General Fund and those of us who work in the Mission Office.
Without your faithfulness we could not continue to serve those who serve
in the regions beyond.
