NEWSLETTERAUGUST
2005
The beginning of the month of August finds us in the
midst of our 41st Annual Candidate Seminar. It is a blessing each year to be able to meet with the
missionary candidates to help prepare them for their deputation and field
ministries. Following our seminar
each year we host our Mission Family Retreat at the Minnetonka Christian Camp in
Clayton, Oklahoma. This is an
opportunity for our deputation and furlough missionaries to spend a few days in
spiritual and physical refreshment. During
the Retreat we also hold our WBF Mission Committee meeting and the candidates
receive their approval as WBF Missionaries.
This approval serves as a recommendation to pastors and churches that
these candidates have been examined and that they are doctrinally and morally
correct. It must be emphasized that
the World Baptist Fellowship does not send out missionaries.
Each missionary is sent from his own local church.
We function as a help to the churches and their missionaries and in no
way desire to usurp the authority of the local churches Bill and Dena
Rose & children have arrived on the field in Spain following their
language study in Edinburg, Texas. Pray
for them as they get settled there, find a home and vehicle and continue with
their language study. They will
work along with David and
Florence McDonald in Almeria as they begin their ministry among the Spanish
people. Mike
and Christie Starling & children have arrived from Mexico for furlough.
Don & Mary Rowland
have also arrived from Mexico for their furlough.
Pray for these families as they get settled and begin their furlough
travels. Stephen and
Charlotte Byrd and sons have returned to the field of Ecuador for their next
term of service. Matthew will be coming back to the U. S. in the fall to begin
college. Pray for them as they get
settled on the field, and especially as Matthew begins his studies at Pensacola
Christian College. Joe
and Elaine Hawkins have returned to the work in Brazil following a short
medical furlough. Please pray for
their physical well being as they resume their work there on the field. Kyron
and Antonia Horton & girls have returned to the field of Brazil for
their next term. Pray for them as
they return to the work. Bro. Jack
Weaver, who continues his battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), has
entered a long term care facility in Longview, Texas.
Pray for him and also for Jo as they get adjusted to this change in their
lives. Jo will be living in
Marshall, TX, which is a short distance from the home there in Longview. Please continue to pray for these missionaries who are
fighting daily battles with illness: Miss
Bessie Millican, Monnie Bacon,
Gloria Higgins, Phil
& Mary Gagnon, Sammy Jo Myers,
Jackie Washburn, Debi
Harris, Wanda & Doyle Whaley,
Sandy Janky. Thank you for your prayers and ongoing financial support
for our missionary families and also for the General Fund.
Pray for our upcoming WBF Fall Meeting, October 17-19, 2005 at the First
Baptist Church in Canton, Michigan. Pray
also for our Special Mission Offering that we will reach our goal of $50,000.
Please have a part in this special offering. NEW ADDRESSES:
