AUGUST 2004

Missionaries around the world are facing difficult problems and are much in need of our prayers. The continued weakness in the U. S. dollar has cost some missionaries as much as 30% to 40% of their income buying power. Many missionaries, and ours are included, are faced with cutbacks in the work and in their personal living conditions. For some missionaries with very low support levels, this is a critical problem. In addition, costs continue to escalate for medical insurance, food, housing, fuel, clothing, etc.  We know that the Lord will provide for His servants as He always has in the past. Political problems are also an issue with which many missionaries must deal on a daily basis. For example, the country of Indonesia is going through a long electoral process and in the past this has proved to be a catalyst for violence, many times directed toward Christians in that country. Terrorism is a worldwide problem and many missionaries are serving in places where terrorist attacks are frequent occurrences. Please call on the Lord daily for our missionaries around the world, asking God for their protection and thanking Him for His provision of their needs. God works in answer to fervent, earnest prayer.

Please remember the upcoming WBF Fall Meeting, which will take place as a part of the International Baptist Network meeting, September 26-29, 2004 at the Highland Park Baptist Church, 1907 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404. We would love to see a very large number of our pastors, missionaries, and other Christian workers at this meeting. The theme of the meeting will be, "That the World May Believe".

This year's Mission Store will be held on September 30,2004 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, Georgia. Gifts for the Mission Store should NOT be sent to the meeting in Chattanooga. Please send your Mission Store items to: Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1036 N. Main St., Jasper, GA 30143. The phone number at Mt. Zion is 706-692-6315.

We will receive our Special Mission Offering at the meeting in Chattanooga. The goal for this year's offering is $50,000 and it is vital for the ongoing operation of the Mission Office. Please bring your offering to the meeting in Chattanooga, or mail it to the WBF Mission Office at P. 0. Box 13459, Arlington, TX 76094.  Thank you for helping us reach the goal in this year's Special Mission Offering.

Lanny & Judy Wood have returned to Brazil, Andy & Linda Briggs family has returned to Latvia, and Miss Karen Werth has returned to Indonesia for their next terms of service. Pray for these missionaries as they get settled and back into the work on the field. Coming for furlough in August is Frank & Darla Brim family from Brazil.

Please remember the following missionaries in your prayers that the Lord will grant them physical healing and grace: Miss Bessie Millican, Jack Weaver, Monnie Bacon, Gloria Higgins, Mary Gagnon, Debi Harris, Cecil Henderson, Barbara Wimm, Sandy Janky, Lanny Wood, Joe Hawkins, Dana McCutchen, Mark McCutchen.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your faithfulness in prayer and financial support for our missionary families and also for the Mission Office. We consider it a privilege to serve as partners with you in the great work of reaching lost souls around the world.
