NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2008
We are entering into the summer season and it is
the season of growth and the beginning of harvest.
Fresh garden produce will soon be plentiful and delicious.
Soon the wheat harvest will begin in
Texas
and then the crews will gradually move northward until the year’s crop
is harvested. As
summer progresses there will be fruit harvests and later in the summer
other crops will be gathered in. Spiritually,
summer is also a time of growth and harvest.
Churches here in the
United States
and on mission fields around the world will hold youth camps, Vacation
Bible Schools, and other summer programs that will result in many souls
being saved.
Mission
trips will be taken in which Christian young people will be challenged
to surrender their lives to the calling of the Lord for full time
service on a foreign field. “Pray
ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers
into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:38)
Larry
& Barbara Koehn have returned to
Chile
following their furlough for their next term of service.
Pray for them as they get settled and back into the work of the
ministry there in
Chile
.
Miss
Dawne Hart has left for the field of
Portugal
for her first term of service. She
will work with an Independent Baptist Missionary family there and will
be a real asset to the work among women and children.
As a MK, she already knows the language and will be an immediate
help in the work. Pray for
her as she begins her ministry there in
Portugal
.
The Bill
Rose family is returning in June to
Spain
following a six-month furlough.
Visa requirements in Spain allow them to only be out of the
country for six months so they will take a six-month furlough every two
years instead of a year-long furlough every three or four years.
The Dick
Burdine family will leave on June 18 to return to
Cambodia
for their next term of service. Pray
for them, especially for Joel and Daniel, who will remain in the
U. S.
in Bible college.
John
& Rebecca Hawkins will leave in June for their next term in
Brazil
. Daniel will remain in the
U. S. Pray for them as they
leave him here in the States.
Bill
& Mary Horton have arrived in the
U. S.
for a much needed and overdue furlough.
Pray for them as they get some medical work done and then begin
to visit their supporting churches.
Miss
Karen Werth has arrived from
Indonesia
for furlough. Pray for her
and her family in the homegoing of her father, Arthur Werth.
Due to his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Doyle
and Wanda Whaley have returned to the
U. S.
from
Guatemala
. Their desire is to return
to the field, but this may not be possible.
Pray for them that they will determine the Lord’s Will in this
matter.
Pray for our missionaries who are fighting
illness: Ernie
Brown had a heart procedure on May 20 to regulate his heart rate.
Mike Lane
is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Dale Brown has
undergone testing to see if he has MS.
Juanita Bowen
will have to undergo knee surgery this month to repair a torn ligament.
Charlene Neill is
recovering from hip replacement surgery.
She broke her hip in a fall at home.
The following missionaries have ongoing physical problems:
Gloria Higgins,
Monnie Bacon, Debi
Harris, Mary Gagnon,
Phil Gagnon, Joe
Hawkins, Sandy Janky, baby
Eliana Densmore, Amber Cato.
Please mark your calendars for the WBF
Fall Meeting,
October 13-15, 2008
at
Trinity
Baptist
Church
in
Big Spring, Texas. The theme of the meeting
is: “God will……”.
It promises to be a great meeting.
Thank you for your ongoing prayers and financial
support for our missionaries and for the General Fund.
We appreciate the investment in missions of each church and
individual Christian who have a part in the worldwide efforts to reach
the lost for Christ.
