NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2008
We praise the Lord and thank you for your
faithfulness to our missionary families. For
the 24th consecutive year we have seen an increase in total offerings
received through our office for the missionaries.
In 2007 we received a total of $6,649,023.77.
In spite of difficult days in the economy, God has provided and you have
been faithful in your stewardship. Our
missionaries around the world are facing financial difficulties due to the
combination of high inflation and a weakening U. S. dollar.
They are being as frugal as possible in their ministry and lifestyles,
but their buying power has been drastically reduced and for many of them it is a
great struggle to make ends meet. Your
faithfulness has made it possible for them to continue the work.
Doyle and Wanda
Whaley will leave in February to return to Guatemala. Pray for them, especially for Bro. Doyle, who has been
diagnosed with beginning stage Alzheimer’s.
They will stay on the field and work as long as Bro. Doyle is able.
I appreciate so much their dedication and desire to continue serving the
Lord and reaching souls in Guatemala.
Remember to make your plans now to attend this year’s WBF
Fellowship Meetings. The May
meeting will take place at Arlington Baptist College on May 12-15, 2008.
The Fall Meeting will take place at the Trinity Baptist Church in Big
Spring, Texas on October 13-15, 2008. At
the May meeting the ministry of Arlington Baptist College is featured and at the
Fall Meeting the Missionary work of the Fellowship is emphasized.
Each of these meetings is important and we encourage you to be present to
enjoy the fellowship and ministry of the Word of God.
Please begin now to pray for our Candidate Seminar and
Mission Family Retreat. The seminar
will take place July 23 to August 1, 2008 at the Mission Office and the Retreat
will be held August 4-7, 2008 at the Minnetonka Christian Camp in Clayton,
Oklahoma.
The following missionaries need your prayers for their
health needs: Rebecca
Hawkins is recovering from gall-bladder surgery and doing well. Juanita Bowen
and Ernie Brown are recovering
from surgery. Bro. Ernie is also
experiencing heart problems. Pray
for the following who have ongoing physical needs:
Doyle Whaley, Mike
Lane, Dr. Wendell Hiers, Debi
Harris, Monnie Bacon, Gloria
Higgins, Mary & Phil Gagnon,
Joe Hawkins, Eliana
Densmore, Amber Cato, Charlene
Neill, David McClure, Sandy
Janky, Sammy Jo Myers.
Thank you again for your faithfulness in prayer and
financial support. Our missionaries
could not serve on their respective fields without your faithfulness.
We here in the Mission Office are also grateful for your prayers and
support for the General Fund.
