JANUARY 2010
As we enter into the challenges and opportunities
of 2010, it hardly seems possible that another year has passed.
The year 2009 was filled with many blessings and also many
difficulties. We do not have
the total amount of offerings received for 2009 (at this writing), but
it appears that we will fall a little short of our goal for a new record
year. It was, however, the
second best year on record for offerings received for our missionaries
from faithful churches and individual Christians.
This is admirable, considering the difficult economic situation
of today. God’s people
have given sacrificially and the result of these sacrifices has been
many souls born into the kingdom of God, believers baptized, and new
churches founded. We
look forward to this coming year with great anticipation of what the
Lord will do through His people in reaching lost souls around the world.
One of the difficulties of the present economic
situation is that our deputation missionaries are finding it harder to
make appointments. While
churches are remaining faithful to the support of their present
missionaries, many are finding it difficult to add new missionaries and
this has a direct effect on those who are in the process of raising
their support in order to go to the field for the first time.
Pray for these godly folks, that they will not become discouraged
and that the Lord will open doors of opportunity in many churches for
them to present their ministries.
Pray for the following missionaries who have
returned to their fields of service:
David, Diane and Amber
Cato have returned to Brazil, Jacques
and Marie Alexandre have returned to Haiti, and David
and Florence McDonald have returned to Spain for their next terms of
service.
Ed
& Cindee Richards have arrived from Dominica for a six month
furlough. Bill
and Dena Rose & children have arrived in the U. S. from Spain
for a short furlough. Upon
their return to Spain they will begin a new work in the city of Málaga.
Several of our missionaries are in need of our
prayers due to illness: Betty
Hawkins has begun chemo treatments following cancer surgery.
The first treatment did not make her ill and we are praying that
she will do well during the 18 weeks of treatments.
Charles Bowen
is doing well following surgery due to the injuries he suffered when
struck by a car on a store parking lot.
Doyle Whaley
continues to have great difficulty in his battle with Alzheimer’s and
deafness. He is now under
hospice care at home. Joy
Chapman continues to have some difficulties in the regulation of
insulin dosage for diabetes. She
is also facing gall-bladder surgery.
Judy Wood continues
to progress following a slight stroke.
Mark McCutchen
and Kyron Horton are
both recovering from surgery and doing well.
Debi Harris
continues to receive treatments on her esophagus in hopes of avoiding a
very major surgery. The
following missionaries have ongoing physical battles and need our
prayers: Linda
Carruth, Rebecca
Hawkins, Sandy Janky, Juanita
Bowen, Joe
Hawkins, Elaine Hawkins, Mary
Gagnon, Monnie Bacon, Ernie
Brown, Gloria Higgins,
Abigail Mitchell, Amber
Cato, Dana
McCutchen, Charlene Neill,
Mike Lane and Dale
Brown.
We are grateful for your faithful prayers and
financial support for our missionaries and also for the General Fund.
We wish you a very Happy New Year, filled with the blessings of
God.
