Dear brethren,

The work here in Caxias is progressing well.  In the months of July and August we have seen an increase in attendance of close to forty percent.  Four ladies with their children have begun attending our services, which has been a great blessing.  Of the four, three are married, and two of the husbands have visited in the services.  We reached an all time mid-week service high of forty-two, with no special activity planned.  Several times we've had attendance in the mid thirties for the evening services, and upper teens for the Sunday School.  The averages could have been higher, but sickness kept several away for a few services.  If all would be well and attending at the same time, we would have about forty-five present.  Please pray for the salvation of several of these visitors.

In our last letter, we presented the need for the completion of our building construction.  With the higher numbers attending, our space now is even more cramped.  The finished building will give us four times our present space, including the needed facilities to minister well to the diversity of the congregation.  To receive a low interest loan soon, we need a down payment of approximately US $7,000.  Please pray with us that the funds would soon be available to us.  If you are touched of the Lord to give toward this end, please send your offering in our name marked "building fund" to the World Baptist Fellowship mission office.

We had the privilege of special guests with us for the month of August.  Erin Evans and Whitney Harris spent nearly four weeks with us, helping out where they could.  The young ladies are from Baker City, OR.  Whitney believes the Lord would have her be a missionary, and her time here strengthened her calling.  The experience has made a big impact on them both.  The girls are already making plans to return next July to help out with Vacation Bible School and other ministries.  They have even bought Portuguese language tapes to learn to speak with the people here.

Your prayers and concern for our family and ministry are very special to us.  Thank you for the prayers.  We also thank those who have mailed and e-mailed us letting us know that you're praying for us.  May God bless you all.

In His service,
John & Neila Yelle
