Dear Friends,
Our April church service averages was greatly blessed. We experienced
the highest averages in all services since our return last September.
Our Sunday evening averaged close to fifty, with the Wednesday Evening
averaging around forty. Even our Sunday School recorded all time highs
in the mid thirties.
Since our last letter we've had several new visitors, with most of
them returning to other services. Amongst them are a mother and her
three teenagers, and also an elderly couple with their grand-daughter.
Dora moved into the neighborhood a few months back with her unsaved
husband and three kids. The most faithful to the services and programs
of the church are the two oldest, Daniel (17)and Camila (15), Nestor and
Clair are the elderly couple who were brought to church by their
six year old grand-daughter, Vitoria. Neither Nestor nor Clair have made
professions of faith yet, but they do let people know that the
Fundamental Baptist Tabernacle is "their" church. Please pray
for their salvation.
At the end of March we held our first baptismal
service of the year. There were five baptized, including one adult, one
youth, and three children. We are proud to announce that one of the
children was our youngest, Katherine.
Speaking of our daughters, all three have begun music
lessons. The three are progressing well with the keyboard, and all have
already debuted in the church, playing the offertory music.
The new work with the Good Shepherd Baptist Congregation is
progressing slowly. We haven't got adult visitors, but two young girls
are visiting. We do have two adults in the neighborhood who have
accepted the first lesson of the Bible correspondence course. Please be
in prayer for this ministry, and for Bro. Rafael and his wife Flavia who
are in front of the work there.
Since December, there has been an approximate 8% drop in the currency
exchange rate. What this means is that all missionaries receiving
support in dollar amounts have lost another 8% of their buying power
here in Brazil. At the same time, we've seen a rise in inflation at the
pumps, supermarket, and in construction costs. This means for Neila and
I that our support level is still lacking to be at it's ideal. We have
seen some new support come in over the past several months, but we still
are limited in the work. Please pray for our finances and that we'd be
wise stewards with what's been provided.
