This
year Judy and I are celebrating our 37th year as World Baptist
Fellowship missionaries to Brazil. We are thankful for each of our
supporting churches that faithfully pray for and give financially to
support our ministry. You have an important and essential partnership
in this fruitful endeavor and we are grateful to God for each of you.
In
1 Corinthians 3:9-10, the Apostle Paul said, "For we are
labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's
building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a
wise masterbuilder. I have laid the foundation and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereon."
We
have had the privilege of establishing five churches, all of which are
now pastored by Brazilian men that we have had the honor to teach and
train for the ministry. All of these churches are Independent,
Fundamental Baptist in doctrine and principle and each pastor and
church is dedicated to the indigenous local church concept of missions
(self supporting, self governing and self propagating). These churches
pray for and financially support 20 missionary families and projects
in Africa, Brazil, Chile, Israel and Portugal.
When
we arrived in Brazil, the majority of all Evangelical work and church
planting was being done by foreign missionaries (mostly American).
However, I'm happy to report that now the majority of work is being
done by Brazilians who are the fruit of previous missionary
ministries.
The
population of Brazil has more than doubled since our arrival. Much has
been accomplished but much remains to be done. Our Lord willing, Judy
and I plan to devote the rest of our lives to the work the Lord has
called us to do in Brazil. With your faithful prayers and financial
support our work will continue until the Lord calls us home.
Please
pray for our continued good health and for the wisdom to fulfill our
missionary obligation to God and to those who have yet to hear the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. "I am debtor both to the Greeks and to
the Barbarians: both to the wise, and to the unwise. So as much as in
me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel...For I am not ashamed of the
Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to
everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek"
(Romans 1:14-16).
