 THE HARDYS ARRIVE

We mentioned in our last letter that Jack and Ute Hardy would soon be joining us here in the work. Well, they have now been here a week and a half and are already beginning to bond with the people in this new work. We are all excited about the prospects here, and Patti and I want to thank Aurora Baptist Church for helping to expedite the Hardys’ departure for Wales - not that you didn’t want to keep them around for a while longer, but because they will be such a blessing here in Wales.

UPDATE ON NEW WORK

The church plant in Caerleon, Grace Baptist, continues to meet in the Scout Hut. I think that the Scout people originally looked at us with a bit of skepticism, but as the weeks go by they perceive that we care about the community and aren’t some kind of fly-by-night operation. I try to steer the conversations with the scoutmaster in a spiritual direction whenever possible, but right now being honest in our dealings and maintaining a proper testimony with the Scouts is our best inroads with them. They are surprised that we are so diligent in paying our rent for the building. What does that suggest about their dealings with Christians in the past?
We have taken a break the last few weeks from looking at proposals for a covenant/constitution/confession in order to have our harvest meal and to welcome the Hardys to Wales, but this Thursday we will be back at it again. It will be good to have Jack’s experience and input in the discussions. This is something that we want to get right as we plant this new work. I’ve stressed the importance of having right attitudes towards our brothers and sisters in Christ and I believe that the folks are taking these things to heart. Pray that these meetings will go well. We so much want Grace to be the kind of church that honors God by making His glory our foremost priority.
May God richly bless all of you - our prayerful supporters - as you make it possible for us to continue ministering here.

Feeding a few and fishing for more on the east bank of the pond,
