THANK YOUS TO SOME FRIENDS
We
would again like to express our thanks to those churches who were such a
blessing to us during our trip to Texas for the May fellowship meeting at
Arlington Baptist College - our sending church, Tabernacle Baptist Church of
Crane, Texas; Grace Baptist Church of Fort Worth, who provided our
accommodations for most of the trip; Mrs. Oldham for arranging for Patti to
speak to the ladies of Calvary Baptist of Grand Prairie; and Oak Trail Baptist
of Granbury. Thanks for your gracious hospitality, friendship, prayers, and
support.
We
were able to see Ian graduate from ABC, and he is now in his second week of
training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Hopefully, he hasn’t
become some drill instructor’s ‘special friend.’ That could make for a
long basic training! ☺
A
NEW GOSPEL OUTPOST
In
our last letter we asked you to pray about the possibility of a church plant in
Caerleon, the ancient town north of Newport. We were unsuccessful in gaining
access to the town hall, but through talking to the right people the local Scout
hut has been made available to us. Those of you who receive the email version of
this letter, we would ask you to pray extra as we make preparations for our
first public service on the 23rd of July (those who get this snail
mail after the 23rd, please pray for those seeds already planted).
The home Bible meetings will continue, and a couple more meetings and the
present series should be completed. These meetings are important in that a small
group setting provides a completely different ministry dynamic; but we’re
looking forward to expanding our horizons in a new community. The one down-side
is that school ends here this week, and people start disappearing on vacations.
We know that these things are in the Lord’s hands, and our business is to be
faithful in His service.
I
talked with Jack Hardy three days ago. He and Ute are just three months from
joining us here in Wales. I try to keep them apprised of what is going on here,
and the Hardys are quite eager to jump in here and lend a hand. Please pray also
for these our helpers as they finish their deputation process and make their
travel arrangements.
May
God richly bless all of you faithful rope holders as you make it possible for us
to minister here.
Feeding
a few and fishing for more,
Tom
