Dear friends in Christ,

Is it just me, or do some of you have arguments with yourself? And lest I be thought a 'nutter' (a great British word), no, these arguments are not spoken out loud.
Just the other day I was thinking about the ministry here, and specifically among those who have been attendant upon the preached Word for some time now. We have some folks who are fairly regular in their attendance, and some others who are more sporadic. And of course, I'm wondering why they've not made a public profession of faith in Christ yet. And my other 'self begins to 'have a go at me' as they like to say around here.

"So... you were saved the first time that you heard the gospel?"

"Well, no."
"The second or third time, then?"

"No."

"Fourth or fifth?"

''No; I get the point."
"Don't expect them to do what you didn't do. And didn't the Lord send that first time visitor Sunday before last? Why don't you just be thankful that you have unsaved people to preach to 90% of the time, some of whom are genuinely seeking the truth and listen closely to what you say?"

            "I know; you're right."
            "Then stop your whingeing"
(another great British word).
            "I didn't say a word!"
"Maybe not; but you were thinking it. And the Lord knows your thoughts.
"

So have you ever given yourself a telling off (or is it received a telling oft)? It is a helpful thing sometimes, especially when we need an attitude adjustment, however slight it may be.
O my soul, we need a mighty work of God's Spirit around here! There is such spiritual desolation on every hand. It causes discouragement among our faithful people; and, as you have read, we have folks coming that need to be saved. Would you pray for the messenger, the message, and the hearer right here in South Wales?
I'll be preaching some messages the next several weeks from John 3:16, a great gospel text. Would you pray that the Lord will work miracles of grace and mercy and love at every hand, dispelling darkness and bringing life forth from death?
We appreciate the faithful prayers of all you folks that we met as we criss-crossed America all those years ago - and also the prayers of those we haven't met yet, knowing that God continually adds to His family. May He richly bless you all!

Serving sinners, saints, and the Saviour in the old world,
Tom and Patti Wheeler
