The Whaleys
October 2009
Dear Praying Friends,
I am sorry that I have not
written sooner but the whole summer has been a very difficult one for
us. Doyle was in and out of the hospital three times in the months of
June and July. In June he had surgery on his right ear and we thought he
would be able to hear right away, but that isn't the way it is. He is
still deaf. This is heartbreaking, but the Lord has His reasons for
everything. Eight days after the ear surgery Doyle went into renal
failure so we had him back in the hospital for another week. I am glad
to say his kidneys are working again, although not completely normal. A
week after all this we were back at the hospital again to put in a
permanent catheter in the bladder so they could do a procedure on the
prostate which was done the next week. With all this his Alzhiemer's
went wild so it took a few more weeks to get that under control. Doyle
speaks very little but still smiles a lot. Thank you for all your
prayers and support, without that we couldn't have gotten through all of
it.
The churches in Guatemala are
doing well and reporting that souls are being saved. The church in
Huehuetenango reports that the missions are growing and are in need of a
building big enough to meet in all at once. In one of the missions they
meet in five different places because there are too many people to fit
in one place. The pastor teaches five times on Saturday. That is quite a
job for any pastor. The church in Quesaltenango has a big problem with
their papers. The government turned down all of their papers, so they
have to start all over again. Pray for them. It is a hard time for them.
