We are approaching Christmas day and the New Year is upon us. Jackie
and I pray that you all will have a blessed Christmas holiday with your
family a great new year for the Lord in His service. We appreciate so
much your part in the work here in Colombia.
We arrived in Medellin on November 26th to begin our next term here
for the Lord. It is always hard to leave family and friends in the
States but is a real blessing to be back in the work that God has for us
here. We have been able to visit with the three churches here in
Medellin and they are doing well. It has been good to see our brethren
here and learn of blessings they have received this past year. Also they
have shared some of the challenges they are facing in reaching people
for the Lord and helping their people grow in their spiritual walk with
the Lord.
I am working on the courses that we will teach the next semester in
the Bible Institute. The classes will begin the 26th of January. In
January we also will be having the graduation ceremonies for Bro. Javier
Olarte who has finished the necessary courses. It is likely that he will
soon be one of our new professors in the Institute. He is an excellent
teacher and will be a blessing to that ministry. Pastor Jimy and Pastor
Wilson did a fine job in teaching the Institute courses while we were in
the States on furlough.
We are praying about starting some home services in a new area of
Medellin. We have some possibilities in the city of Bello and also in
the neighborhood of Salvador close to the downtown area of the city.
Both of these areas have a need of Fundamental Baptist churches. Please
pray that God would direct us to the right place to begin. We would like
to involve some of the people in the churches in raising up a new work.
It is very likely that it will be a mission off of the Life In Christ
Baptist Church in Florencia. Pastor Jimy has a burden to start a new
work in the area.
Shortly after returning we had a wedding. Wilber and Yuliana were
married. They have been active for several years in the Florencia
church, studied in the Bible Institute, and are now working with Bro.
Fabio in the city of Copacabana. They will be helping also with a
mission work of that church in Maranilla, Colombia. It is a town a
couple of hours from Medellin.
We enjoyed our time of furlough reporting to our churches and raising
some new support. God is blessing and always supplies what we need for
the work and for our family. The dollar went back up quite a bit before
we came back to Colombia but now has dropped a lot in the past few
weeks. We do appreciate your faithful support in offerings and prayers.
They are so important to us and the work here in this area of the world.
