"For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places." Dear Pastor and Church, July - September 2005I was reminiscing about the eight years that I have been here
in the mountains with the Lahu hill tribe and just thinking how much the Lord
has blessed. I can remember sitting in Ah-jew's bamboo hut trying to teach
Genesis and wondering how missionaries are suppose to establish a strong Baptist
church with people who could hardly read or write. How many times I would be
teaching and ask those that could read, "Okay guys, who is speaking in this
verse?" Then getting an answer that sounded more like a question,
"Jesus??" " No, no, no. Let's read the verse again."
"Peter said... .." Okay who is speaking?" With another answer
that has the inflexion of a question. "Paul??" "No, no, no. Read
the first two words together." "Peter said " STOP. Okay, who is speaking?"
"Uhh, David??" Well, some how God seems to be doing it. One of those men now teaches the
men's Sunday School class, preaches, and even teaches others in the village how
to read and write. Actually we now have 4 men that teach the Lahu language.
Kannika has just finished teaching a training class for Sunday School workers to
5 teens. So, now we have 13 teachers available to teach and help. Four out of
these thirteen had to start by learning the alphabet because they couldn't read
or write. About five years ago we only had two teachers for kids and adults
(Kannika and I). Lastly, We want to praise the Lord for the 19 people we were able to Baptized this quarter. Thomas and Kannika Tucker Sent By:
