"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Pastor,                                                                                          June 2, 2006

Greetings from northern Thailand. As you probably know it has been ten years since my last furlough. There have been a lot of changes and a lot of blessings. One of those blessings was getting married in 2001. Since teen camp of last year (October) we have not been able to build up our backlog as I had done before. I won't be coming in 'on a wing and a prayer' but I will be skidding in on an empty pocket book. I am trying to get things situated in the work here before furlough (arriving DFW last week of July). We would appreciate anything you can do to help.

Our plane tickets (2 persons round trip) from Bangkok to Dallas/ Ft.Worth is $3222.22

I need $550 to do some repair work on our truck. We are into the rainy season and so have to use the 4-wheel almost every day. The work in Phaya-meng-rai is about 5 miles of dirt/mud through the mountains. The Ford Ranger has been a good vehicle but I had to slow down on some of the maintenance this last year.

The $10,000 Water purifier system that was given to us is still sitting in front of my house because we have not had the money to build a cement foundation and buy a 2000-liter tank. The cost approximately $450. They drink water from the streams, which cause a lot of sickness during the rainy season.

We have four students in the Institute in Huey Saa. We started the last week of February with this group. One has a GED, two are in the process of getting theirs, and Ahjew is 45 never made it to Junior High but with Kannika's help he has really come along in the last 4 years and really wants to study the Bible. They can't go to the school in Bangkok because they need to help their families in the fields and the slower pace they have to be taught. The closest missionary (Mike Fredrick) is in Cheing Mai, which is about five hours from Huey Saa. He has promised to come over every other month for one week to teach a block class. Rick Salmon has promised to come up from Bangkok (12 hour trip one way) to teach the other months. They both are very busy but see the importance in keeping the institute going. I would like to be able to have the material to give to them and the students ready before we leave. Books and material for institute that has been translated for 12 classes x four students = $261.66

We are looking forward to seeing you all and showing what God is doing in Northern Thailand.

In and for Him

Thomas Tucker
