I remember going out behind the house and
watching my older brother try to ring the neck off a chicken. I always
thought it was a lot more fun just to chop the head off and watch it
run. They would go every which way bouncing off of things. So goes the
saying, ".. .like a chicken with its head cut off." That could
be the reason I enjoyed deputation so much. The bouncing around the
country going every which way; where anything within a two day drive was
considered "... in the area."
The last two months have
been pretty close to that. We made four trips to Bangkok (12 hours one
way) and three trips to Chiang Mai (5 hours one way). There were four
meetings (three in Bangkok and one south of Bangkok) and a one week
block institute class in Chiang Mai. In between those trips Austin
made three doctor visits and one emergency room visit with a high fever.
He spent three nights in a Bangkok hospital to have a polyp removed from
his rectum that had been causing some minor bleeding and a week later he
spent six nights in the hospital in Chiang Rai with the measles. After
all the poking and examining he is not thrilled to be around anyone
dressed in white.
Three of the ones that
received Christ in Pha-ya-meng-rai are attending faithfully. They have
about 35 kids that are coming and should pick up a few more once summer
break is over.
Please pray for Na-bu-see.
She has cancer and has been sent home from the hospital with a short
amount of time to live. She is sure of her salvation but it is still a
rough time for the family. Those around her who are not saved put
pressure on the family to take her to the witch doctor.
