"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
                Ephesians 6:12

Dear Pastor and Church,                                                   March-April 2005

The question that kept going through my mind was; 'Should I go slower around the corners or faster?' It isn't an easy question when you're driving through the mountains with four ladies in the back of the truck trying to hold on. Especially if one is pregnant. Everyone is trying to hold on to her and to the sides of the truck at the same time. The question seemed answered as we hit the straight stretch through town. The two teenage girls holding her head are looking dumb with white faces and the grandmother is wailing. I can verily see the pregnant lady but can tell she is no longer moving. To the hospital, out of the truck, and not a pretty sight. The teenagers are whiter than they were 3 minutes ago, and grandma is wailing louder now. Well, maybe, it just seems that way since getting out of the truck. The pregnant lady has either passed out or dead. I wouldn't blame her for either one. Whoops, not pregnant any longer. Junior is lying there against the cab in the bed of the truck. Kinda mixed in there with some dirt, grass, and kernels of corn but still attached to mom. Junior came into the world a month early right on the edge of town three minutes from the hospital being bounced around in the back of a speeding truck. Everyone is doing :fine now. Although the question is still unanswered, 'Should I go slower around the corners or faster?' I do know this.
The next couple didn't ask us for a ride to the hospital. Without telling anyone, he and his wife got on their motorcycle in the middle of the night and drove the 30 minutes through the same mountains to the hospital. They made it.
We were teaching the kids at Huey Dtuk on Tuesday evenings but switched to Wednesdays. It is the village on the other side of the mountain from us (about 1 kilometer). It is considered a part of our village because we share the same village headman. We have two and a half families that walk over to the church on most Sundays. We asked them if they would like to have a time of Bible study and Prayer time on Wednesdays. Now we have two prayer meetings. Pra-doe, Gow, Kannika and I drive over for children's meeting at 19:00 and then have a meeting with about 7 to 10 adults from 20:00-21:00. Huey Saa still meets at 19:00 with Ah-jew in charge.
