FAMILY
NEWS
“Be flexible” has become our new motto.
Family always takes priority for us and this furlough has been no
exception. We are just
returning to a full schedule after a short break to care for urgent
family needs. Shawn’s
grandparents suffered extensive hurricane damage in Louisiana from
Hurricane Rita and needed help, so he spent a few weeks there repairing
and rebuilding their property. His
mother (in Florida) was also diagnosed with lung cancer around the same
time and had to start chemotherapy right away.
We felt we needed to be with her as she started the first of many
doctor appointments, chemo sessions and everything else that goes along
with cancer treatment. She
is still undergoing chemotherapy and will find out in a few weeks what
effect it is having on the cancer.
Please continue to pray for grace in both of these situations.
We are continuing to minister to our family members, but have
returned to the road and are enjoying an aggressive and fruitful
furlough.
Furlough is also a time to have medical procedures
done that have been put off for several years because of substandard
medical conditions on the field. Pray
for Shawn, this week, as he undergoes nasal surgery and then next month,
as he goes through knee surgery. The rest of the family is healthy, but
catching up on various doctors appointments and check-ups.

MINISTRY
NEWS
Our furlough schedule has been very full and
we’ve been in over 40 churches so far. We have enjoyed seeing everyone
again and making some new friends, as well.
We’re so grateful for the opportunities we have had to share
about Ukraine and about missions in general.
Thank you to all the churches that have allowed us to come and
share our ministry - we have been so blessed and encouraged by every
church that we have visited.
Our travels this furlough will not be limited to
the U.S. Shawn is working with Mike Starling, WBF Missionary to Mexico
and Director of Mission Quest International, to plan the first Mission
Quest trip to Europe. This
March they will take a short survey and planning trip to Ukraine to make
final preparations and arrangements.
Our first official Mission Quest trip should take place in August
2006 and, hopefully, every year after that.
Our plan is to offer a well rounded, realistic, short-term
missions experience in Eastern Europe that will bring souls to Christ,
assist missionaries on the field, and encourage those interested in
missions to enlarge their vision and seek God’s leadership for the
future. Our dream is to
accomplish more than ever before in international missions in the time
that God has given us. We are seeking His blessing and favor in accomplishing one
thing…. bringing glory to His name.
Pray that God will give wisdom and resources to see these
God-given dreams come true.
We ask for your prayers and continued support as we
travel; for safety and health on the road and for God’s provision as
we prepare to return to Ukraine, in June, for our second term. We are encouraged and excited about the conditions and the
opportunities in Ukraine at this strategic time and are looking forward
to getting back to work on the field.
Please remember us in your prayers. |
