Missionaries to Ukraine

Update from Ukraine

Any color is my favorite color.  Anything except gray that is!  All of the color is gone from the city and sunset occurs at about 3:30 in the afternoon.  The winters are long and hard, cold and dark.  Now I know why the people here become so depressed.….. dreary on the outside, hopeless on the inside.  Our desire is to offer them the hope of Christ, but right now, ministry is limited by language.  Please continue to pray about our studies as we prepare for outreach.

We are really making good contacts through our English clubs.  Vitaly (the atheist who we mentioned in our last letter) has invited his girlfriend to come and they both attend regularly.  The rest of the group is responding well and we have new people each week.  Pray that our progress will lead to spiritual conversations very soon.

We have received a number of donations toward last months ministry request.  Thank you to those of you who were able to have a part in this.  Our home church, West Orlando Baptist, is collecting those materials now and preparing them for shipment.  These resources will allow us to better serve the people here through Bible studies and community outreach.

Family News

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during Amy’s illness.  She is recovering nicely from an appendectomy and is beginning to resume her normal activities again.  Praise God!

Thanksgiving was wonderful here in Kiev.  Two other American families joined us as we gave thanks for God’s provisions and blessings.  We were even able to order a Butterball turkey through the Embassy (can’t get those here!) and all the other ingredients we were able to find in the market, so we had a very nice dinner.  No Macy’s parade or football games to watch, but we still had a wonderful celebration.  We are looking forward to both of our Christmas holidays -  December 25th and then January 7th, the official Ukrainian holiday!  We will celebrate as a family on the 25th, and then with our Ukrainian friends on the 7th.  The kids are out of school for Christmas break for three and a half weeks.  Our language school will also have a break, so it will be nice to spend some time together as a family.

 MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We want to thank you so much for your love and support for us this past year.

We love and appreciate you all so much!  We wouldn’t be here without you!

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
