The Sullivan Family Update from Ukraine - July 1, 2006
Hey,
In case you didn't get our last email
- we made it to Kiev! We are here, safe and sound! Our flights
were all good, and we even got bumped up to first class on the first one! We
did lose ALL of our luggage though, so we spent our first hour filling
out paperwork in the lost and found office at the airport here in Kiev. We received
7 of our suitcases today and one more (Kayla's) should be here tomorrow
or the next day, we hope! Fortunately, she brought an extra set of
clothes in her carry on bag, so she should be okay.
We spent our first night with our
friends that picked us up at the airport - they invited us over and had dinner
waiting for us, so that was a nice surprise. Then they took us by the
store on the way to our house, to pick up a few groceries - so we were able to
have a few necessities right away. They were so wonderful to take
care of us like that - we really appreciated that!
Today, we went by the house that some
of our American friends used to rent, to see if the landlord there
would be willing to rent to us - but we found out that she already has a
German family living there, so that idea didn't work out like we thought it
might. We should be meeting with our landlord in the next day
or so - pray that he is willing to negotiate! If he won't, then we
either have to pay the extra money each month or keep looking for another
place. We will keep you posted as things develop - just pray - A LOT!!
We will try to write more later -
just wanted to get our new mobile phone numbers to you - it may be easier to
reach us with these, instead of on our house phone (which may change anyway). Feel
free to give the numbers out to anyone that is interested.
Love,
Shawn and Amy
