Dear Praying Friends,
God’s invitations always stretch us, challenge us
and refresh our dependency on Him in order to grow our faith. This new
work with Manna Worldwide is not only the greatest opportunity our
family and fellowship has ever been afforded; it is an overwhelming
challenge as well.
God has opened a door that will allow us to
continue our work in Ukraine and expand our outreach eastward into
Eastern Europe and Eurasia. More than 20 countries, primarily Russian
speaking, former Soviet and Muslim people groups, comprise some of the
most unreached, unevangelized regions of the world. We have been
invited by Manna Worldwide and approved by the World Baptist Fellowship
to begin this expansion of our work. Pray for us as we raise our
support; we are anxious to see what God has in store for us beyond the
borders of Ukraine.
While the majority of our meetings have been in
Texas, we have been visiting churches in Florida for the last few
weeks. We were able to book some meetings here while we were helping
Amy’s sister, who was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer. She had to
have her kidney removed and then found that the cancer had spread to her
thigh bone. After an amazing series of events, God led us to a
wonderful doctor in Korea who is doing amazing things with cancer and we
were able to meet with him while he was here in Florida, on business.
After our meeting, he agreed to treat Susan, so just a few days later,
she and her husband Rudy, left for Seoul, South Korea and she started
treatment right away. But just a few days ago, she had a setback —
while getting out of the car and into her wheelchair, her thigh bone
(where the cancer had settled) snapped in two. She had to have surgery
to remove most of the bone and they put a large metal rod in its place.
She is in a lot of pain, so we would really appreciate your prayers for
her. She will continue her cancer treatments in about two weeks. Now
that she is in Korea, we will finish up with our meetings here and
return to Texas at the end of the month.
Once we return to Texas, we have some scheduled
meetings and then Shawn will leave for Ukraine on July 27th. He will be
going to Kiev to work on the development of the Smile House Bridge to
Life Home, the transition home for orphans who “age out” of the system.
Pray that God will provide the resources and teams to complete
construction of this facility and the unfinished medical clinic for the
children of Komarivka.
Thank you all for your faithful prayers and
support. We would like to ask you a favor…..we are updating our
databases and need current information from each of you. If you would
please contact us by email and let us know your current physical
address, mailing address, telephone number, cell phone number and email
address, we would really appreciate it. We would like to begin sending
all of our prayer letters and updates electronically, if possible. This
will cut our costs significantly and allow us to correspond with all of
you more frequently. Here is our current information, for your records.
