BRAZIL

Dear Prayer Partners,
We praise the Lord for the care He has shown us since
our return for furlough. It has been great to see our family and friends. Our
grandkids have changed so much and we are so glad to be able to spend time with
them. Thanksgiving was such a
blessing for us. We have so much to
be thankful for.
We have called and talked to some of our church
members and the church is doing well in our absence. The first Sunday they had a good group of visitors.
We challenged them to keep growing while we were gone so that when we
returned we would not recognize the church.
It looks like they are trying. One
of our couples just had their second little girl.
Valdeir and Diana have great potential and are becoming more involved;
and as we mentioned they seem very interested in attending Bible Institute.
I ordained our first deacon his name is Manoelito.
This man had prayed several years for a Baptist church to come to his
area God answered that prayer when we started the Immanuel Baptist Church.
We praise the Lord for the 6 baptized just before we traveled it was a
tremendous blessing for our church. We
also had 2 ladies who came and accepted Christ as Savior. This was a special
blessing because one was the sister of one of our faithful ladies and the other
was the mother of Elane one of our new converts.
Elane has been so excited about her salvation that she has brought
visitors to nearly every service. We
also had two men saved on visitation; one of the men saved was 83 and had
visited our church many times and the other was 19. Please pray for each of those that were baptized and that are
new converts.
We look forward to sharing with each one how God
is working in our area. We want to
thank you personally for your prayers and support.
We are co-laborers, and we want you to know how much you are appreciated.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Yours for
Souls in Brazil,
Alton and Helen Smith
