Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                July 2003

Psalm 126:3 The Lord has done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

In June while out on visitation, God gave me the blessing of winning a lady by the name of Maria to the Lord. After leading her to the Lord we invited her to come to one of our church services so she could see what a Baptist church was like, and we told her that there would be a bible given to her at that service. A large smile came over her face and she said God must really love me, first He sent you by to tell me how that I could be saved and now you say I will also get a Bible free. Needless to say we left her house with praise to God in our hearts and as it was our last visit of the day we ran to share this blessing with the others at the church.

Psalm 126:3 is the verse we used during our first year anniversary at Emanuel Baptist Church in Monte Gordo. Truly our God has done and is doing great things in our church. July 18-20th we celebrated our first year with a 3 day evangelistic conference. We challenged our people to see who could bring the most first time visitors, we offered a Study Bible to the one who would bring in the most first time visitors. Each night the crowed grew and by Sunday night we had reached a high of 101. Our small church was overflowing with people standing outside the door listening to the service. In the 3 nights we had (49) first time visitors. Gloria who had won the Bible had brought 50 visitors during the 3 days 25 of which were there for the first time. None were saved during the conference but the seed of God’s Word had been planted in the lives of many. The following Wednesday Pastor Joel Winters from Chichester Baptist was with us and I interpreted (interrupted) for him and we had one saved that had been in the Anniversary Conference.

After only one year in our new work, the time for our furlough has arrived and on the 27th of August we will arrive back in the U.S.  It is our plans to visit our supporting churches that we were not able to visit our last short furlough.  We have a young couple working with us now, Guaraci and Sandra.  They are from the church in Arembepe where we worked with the Brim’s for 4 years.  They are seminary students.  He is in his 3rd year and feels called to be a pastor.  They will be taking the church while we are on furlough. The Brim’s will be overseeing the church and helping this couple. Please keep them all in your prayers.
