AUGUST 2002 NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:

·        Faith Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights, MI came in June and built a two-story building to house married students.  It is such a beautiful building.  They did all the work in ten days.  Thanks to Pastor Gregory and Faith Baptist Church.  Praise the Lord!

·        Pray for one of our June graduates, Jose, with his wife, Isabel.  They moved to La Paz in southern Baja to start a new mission.  Pray for Brother Mario, also a June graduate. He is praying about missionary service to the Tarahumara Indians in Chihuahua.  Brother Mario is at present serving as youth pastor at the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church.

·        We are expecting between 25 and 30 new students arriving for start of fall semester.  That will put our student body at 55 plus.  Please pray for the funds to supply food and pay utilities for our institute.  We thank those of you who contributed to these expenses in past years.

·        Pray for the importing of a mobile home for use as a dorm for the students.  At present all we have are busses for the single men to live in.  The mobile home will cost $2000 to import and transport to the institute property.

NEW MISSION WORKS:

·        Brother Juan Ciro, a 2001 graduate of our institute, has started a new mission work here in our city of Tecate.  Pray for Brother Juan Ciro that this work could soon be organized.

·        Last letter we asked you to pray for Brother Andrés and Brother Marcos.  They started a new mission work out of the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church.  On their property they have been able to put up a tin building.  Thanks for praying.   Please continue to pray for these young men in this new mission work.

Thank you all so much for your interest, prayers and support for our ministry here in Old Mexico.   We pray that God will bless you abundantly for your faithfulness.   Ephesians 1:3

MAY 2002  NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:

·        Sixteen men from Faith Baptist Church Dearborn Heights, Michigan    are building a two-story building for our Bible Institute in June.  This is such a great blessing to our institute.  We give God praise and glory.  We are looking forward to working and fellowshipping with them during their visit.  Thank you Pastor Gregory and the folks at Faith Baptist Church.

·        Nine students are graduating this year.  This is our fourth graduation and the completion of eight years of our institute ministry.  After graduation there will be 24 Mexican nationals trained for ministry from our institute.    All our graduates are still active in ministry to date.

·        We’ve never advertised to recruit students for the institute.  Even so, we have students arriving next fall from seven churches here in Northern Baja and from the states of Oaxaca, Jalisco and Sonora.  Word of our institute has spread miraculously by national pastors and churches that have heard of us or had contact with our institute in some way.

·        We are seeing such a large number desiring to prepare for the gospel ministry in our institute.  We are about at our limit of housing up to 60 single students and in the future we’ll need to turn away some.     Pray with us about the expansion of our institute ministry.

NEW MISSION WORK:

·        Brother Andrés and Brother Marcos, both graduates of our institute, are working together starting a new mission work out of the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church.   Property has been purchased and they are working on paying that off as well as preparing the property to start on a building.   Pray for these young men and their wives in this new mission work.

Thank you all so much for your interest, prayers and support for our ministry here in Old Mexico.   We pray that God will bless you abundantly for your faithfulness.   Ephesians 1:3

FEBRUARY, 2002   NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:
Our Bible Institute is going great.  There is a Spiritual harmony on campus that appears to get progressively better as time goes on.  It is so exciting to see our students mature in the Lord.

We praise the Lord because He has always supplied abundantly for this ministry.  We continue to ask you to pray about funds for our institute.  Our student body increases each year, as do our expenses.  We have experienced increased costs in utilities and we need to feed the student body.  We offer a Bible School education very reasonably to our students.  They are required to work on campus to pay their way, but that does not bring in needed funds.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND GIVING TO THESE SPECIAL NEEDS.

THE NEW HIGHWAY is still to be a future reality.  We have had no news about it for several months.  For now that is fine with us.   Please continue to make the highway a matter of prayer.

BROTHER MIGUEL FLORES, one of our first graduates in 1998, is now pastor of the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church.  The church runs an average of 300.  Our Institute is a ministry of this church.   Pray for Miguel and his family as they work tirelessly in the church and as he teaches in the Institute.  Miguel and  wife, Veronica, are expecting their second child this month of February.

IGLESIA BAUTISTA BETANIA:  (Bethany Baptist Church)
This church has been so faithful in the work of the Lord.  There are many spiritually mature and very sweet people in this congregation of over 200.   It seems that Satan is working so hard at this time to cause problems in the harmony and effectiveness of the church.   Please pray for wisdom for Pastor Eriberto and for the precious members of Bethany.

May our God richly bless you in your faithfulness to Him.

NOVEMBER 2001  NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:
Our fall semester began with 60 students.  27 new students enrolled in September.  Included in the new student enrollment are three married couples.  It is an encouragement to see these families sacrifice so, in order to prepare for the ministry.

Youth camp this summer was a great blessing with 25 saved and 18 baptized.  Some of these young people are now in the Bible Institute preparing to serve the Lord.  With so many new students there are many more needs.  Thank you for praying for the institute needs and for the students.

THE LORD IS BLESSING THE CHURCHES
here with growth and zeal for the study of the Word of God. Pray for several new neighborhoods they are reaching with the Gospel and starting new mission works.

THE NEW HIGHWAY   seems to be in limbo with the government for now.
Still no information on who will be required to pay for this project.  Continue praying.

TERRORISTS ATTACK ON SEPTEMBER 11.
Effects of the attacks have reached our state of Baja California.  Along the Pacific coast here tourism has dropped 80%, a big blow to the economy.  Here in Tecate (about 30 miles east of Tijuana), many Maquiladora plants that assemble products exported to the US have lost orders and there are layoffs.  The US border is about as tight as it has ever been.  Drug traffic to the US has been greatly reduced leaving a large portion of those drugs distributed to Mexicans at a lower price.

Mexicans in general are sympathetic with the US.  Here in Tecate a large banner you see as you enter Mexico conveys Mexico’s sympathy to the US at this time. But, we have heard on Mexican news, reports of Anti-American demonstrations with US flag burnings have occurred in Mexico City.

We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.  Thanks for your prayers.

  A PRAYER REQUEST

Dear Friends,

In March of 1984 we moved to the state of Baja California, Mexico.  We had the opportunity at that time to work in the Sublime Prayer Baptist in Sanchez Tabuada.  We assisted this ministry in various ways during our first 10 years here.   In 1987 we started the Bible Baptist Church in El Florido out of this church.

Our Bible Institute is a ministry of the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church.  The institute is in its eighth year of ministry.

Our prayer request concerns new property for the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church. One of our graduates, Bro. Miguel Flores, is the pastor now. The attendance there is 400 plus in many services.  They are very crowded and need to relocate.   Property equal to the size of five lots has been offered for sale to the church.  They are asking $14,000.00, which is an exceptionally good price.   Most lots here will sell for $7,000.00 to $10,000.00.

We are asking you to pray for the wisdom and guidance as the Sublime Prayer Baptist Church considers purchasing this property.  Pray that according to God’s will the funds for this property will be supplied.

Thank you for your faithfulness and may our God richly bless you.

AUGUST 2001 UPDATE

Dear Praying Friends and family,

Just a quick update.

BIBLE INSTITUTE:

·        We have at least 22 new students enrolling for the fall semester.  That will put the entire student body at around 60 students.  Praise the Lord.    We have four married couples starting new this year.  We are bringing in three or four old school buses and trying to fix them up for housing for the married students.  They will have privacy and take their cooked meals in the school cafeteria.   This is quite rustic by the standards of many.  It is so encouraging to see the dedication of this young Mexican national and their determination to prepare for the Lord’s work.

We’ll need to raise funds for food again this year.  Please pray about this need.

We thank you all so much for your interest, prayers and support for our ministry down here in Old Mexico.

JULY 2001  NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:

Our graduation took place June 23 with eight graduates.  This year’s graduation service was held on campus.  A large tent made of tarpaulins that seated over 300 for the services.  It was so exciting to see these young Mexican men and women finish their studies and eager to launch out into ministry.

Here are portions of testimonies by two of our graduates.

Juan Ciro Galaviz:   My plans after I graduate are to continue winning souls and bringing them into my church.   I will work in my church with my pastor for a year.      Please pray for me.

Francisco Villalpando M:  “My plans after graduation are to work in church for a year.  During this time I will pray and work to start a new mission work.  I believe God has a place already for me.  I want to stay here in the state of Baja, CA but the decision is the Lord’s.  In the mean time I will continue winning souls and making disciples”.

What a thrill and blessing to be a part of training these young Mexican nationals for the Lord’s work.

THE NEW HIGHWAY: It is sure now that the road will be built sometime in the future.

Continue to pray about who will pay for this government project.

IGLESIA BAUTISTA DEL VALLE: (Green Valley Baptist Church)

We asked prayer for Pastor Perez and his need for a vehicle.  You prayed and God supplied.  This vehicle has already been a great asset to Pastor Perez and his ministry.   Till now he had been walking and taking buses for ministry transportation and pastoral visitation.   Thank you for praying.

SUMMER:

Pray for Green Valley Baptist, Bethany Baptist and Sublime Prayer Baptist churches in their DVBS and Camps that many children and young people will come to know the Lord.

We thank you so much for your prayers and support for the ministry in Old Mexico.

APRIL 2001   NEWS LETTER

Dear Praying Friends,

BIBLE INSTITUTE:

Our Bible Institute will have this year’s graduation on June 23.  We’ll have five students who completed the four-year full time course of study.  The graduates are: Andy, Jose. Isabel, Mario and Marcos. This will be our third graduation since we started the institute seven years ago.

We have had a phenomenal increase in the student body over these short years.  The Lord has blessed in EVERY area.  Everything is paid for.   AND, NOW, Surprise, Surprise, it is time for the government to get involved = TAXES (about $3000).

We asked you to pray for sufficient funds to feed the student body.  THANKS for your prayers.  The Lord supplied even more abundantly than we expected.  There are sufficient funds to end this semester and into September of our fall semester.

Continue to pray about the new highway near the school property.  It is going to be built (someday).  BUT, There still has been no solution as to who pays for it.

BROTHER ANDY, one of our students, has started a mission work in an area called Los Presidentes.  There are many multi-story apartment buildings and thousands of people in this neighborhood.  This mission is already running close to 100.  Pray for Andy in his new work.  Brother Andy will be graduating this year.

IGLESIA BAUTISTA DEL VALLE VERDE: (Green Valley Baptist Church)

This church has such a wonderful spirit of love.  When you attend services you can feel it (Love) in the attitudes of the folks there.    Don is preaching during a family conference in May.  Pray that these meetings will be blessed of the Lord.  These dear Mexican believers desire to know and do what the Word says about their family and their relationships between family members.

IGLESIA BAUTISTA BETANIA:  (Bethany Baptist Church)

Church planting is our ministry here in Old Mexico.  We have seen this church grow over the last eight years.  We are not involved there as we were before. They are an indigenous church, sustained by their tithes, offerings and depending on their own people to serve, teach and do the work of the ministry.  This church is planted, growing and bearing fruit.    Praise the Lord!

May our God richly bless you in your faithfulness to Him.
