After Sept. 11th, 2001 we spent several
months in the states. Although we felt very sure the Lord wanted
us to go back to the states for a short time, we could not imagine
why, as there was so much work to do here on the field.
However, the time we spent at home was refreshing, as we were able to
drink in the Word, and not just give it out. Little did we realize the
problem we would be facing when we returned to Indonesia. We
praise the Lord for our Pastor Jerry Siler, his dear wife Kay, and our
church family at Cornerstone Baptist Temple. They were a
very special blessing to us the entire time we were home, and
especially right before we left for Indonesia, and we can only
say THANKS SO MUCH. Our prayer is that God will abundantly bless
them.
While in the states, it was also a time pf physical
healing. I had cancer on my nose that I was not aware of, and it was
taken care of by God and my physician Dr. Maupin. To God be the
glory! I also had a tumor that did not turn out to be cancer,
for which I was indeed thankful.! Plus, a report on my heart
that did not look good at all and yet after further tests by our
physician Dr. Kirkwood it seemed to be fine. Another
answer to prayer. Dr. Parcells took good care of our teeth which
was yet another blessing.
We met two very special blessing to our family right
before we left for Indonesia, our newest grandchildren--Alexander
William ( Alex) Dave and Sues son, 10 months old at that time, and
Margaret Taylor ( Maggie) born on Feb 23rd to Steve and Jody. We
now have four beautiful grandchildren--two boys and two girls!
Leaving Columbus, Ohio on March 5th for our trip back
overseas, we just narrowly missed our home churches Mission
Conference. However, what a blessing when Pastor Jerry set up a
phone call where the entire church could hear our voices, and they
held hands and prayed for us, plus we were able to hear that they
reached their goal! Praise the Lord!
Stopping in Calif. for a few days, Caroles brother
Craig showed us a wonderful time. Then, on to Singapore
for a short visit with our missionary friends, the Moores. It
was such a blessing to be there at their mission conference
time, and thanks to the kindness of their Pastor and his wife,
we were actually made a part of their Mission Conference.
On June 11th our mountain church became an official,
organized Independent Baptist Church! This was a wonderful
day for the church, and for us! Also, the acting preacher was
ordained and is now their full time Pastor. To God be the glory.
Pray for these folks as the road ahead will be a rough one.
Cangkrip is having real problems, not with the people,
but with the Pastor.. It breaks our hearts He has
taken the churches money, and their land to build on, and he refuses
to give it back. We have put him in Gods hands to do with as He
sees fit. Pray for Eko to wake up before it is too
late. And, please be much in prayer for the dear people in the church.
They will have to begin again from scratch, as he also took all of
their church equipment. We are asking God to supply their needs.
He is able!
The church in Jogya continues to grow under the
leadership of Bro. Julius. Also, we have a young man in that
church Pak Robin who is working with Bro. Julius and is even now
looking for a place to start his own church. Four more will be
baptized this month in the Jogya church. Bro. Julius plans to
start an extension school next semester in his church.
Salatiga with Bro. Yohanes Solmon is growing.
They need a larger bldg. to rent, and they need to pay off their land,
plus the preacher needs a motorcycle. Bro. Yohanes sold
his motorcycle in order to help purchase land for a church
bldg.
Our Bible institute is doing well. Carole and I
both teach, along with several other missionaries and Nationals.
The food packages are being given out at the various
churches. We have asked for $5.00 per family to make up a
packet of rice, sugar, tea, coffee , cookies, oil, and soap.
Many have responded and my what a blessing this endeavor has been!
Special days: April 23--Alexs first birthday and
Sues birthday, April 26th--Davids birthday. April 30th
Dave and Sues anniversary. June 30th Steve and Jodys
anniversary. July 9th Jodys birthday and July 15th Cory
Beths 9th birthday.
May God bless each of our family and friends, the
churches that support us, and our home church. Thanks for your
love and support for our ministry here in the regions beyond

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,
With this letter we would like to say thank you for
the blessing you were to us in the home going of my Mother---Rosemary
Ross Cook. Just as we were prepared to leave for Indonesia we received
a phone call with the sad news that my Mother had just passed away.
Although this was a very difficult time for the entire family, we do
rejoice that Mom is now with the Lord! Her Pastor--Rev. Paul, and our
Pastor Jerry Siler conducted her funeral. I am happy to tell you that
a neighbor lady of Moms accepted Christ at her funeral.
Upon our arrival in Indonesia we found that our
works were all doing well for which we thank the Lord. We are once
again back in the hub of things and we need your prayers.
Cangkrip---Pastor Eko is planning to build a church
bldg with a small place in the back for he, his wife and their little
boy. For a number of years, we have met in homes of different members.
IT IS TIME TO BUILD!! Please be in prayer for this very real need.
Jogya----Pastor Julius is doing a fine work in the
city. He has 2 young men that are students in our Bible Institute. One
of them will be ready to start his own work in about a year. Pastor
Julius was so thankful when we told him of the sacrifice some of our
churches and friends and family made so that he could purchase a new
motorcycle. He is in the process of buying the motorcycle now. ( photo
in our next prayer letter) Please pray for Pastor Julius, and his wife
Aris as they contemplate when and where to have the surgery on their
little girl Chorin. She has a hole in her heart and it needs closed.
Thanks so much to those who have given towards the operation. More is
needed as they have no insurance and it will require a hospital stay,
medicine, etc. We believe that God will supply!
Salatiga---Pastor Yohanes, this wife and 2 boys are
doing fine. God is blessing them. We will have a baptism of 3 that
accepted the Lord this coming weekend.
Kaligesing---Pastor Sudiran is thrilled that he
will be receiving a brand new motorcycle soon. He is looking for one
now. Again, thanks to a church that cared enough to give. ( photo in
our next prayer letter) Pastor Sudiran still has bouts with malaria
and in the past few months on 2 different occasions he found a large
rattlesnake in his bed in the middle of the night when he slept in the
parsonage at the back of the mountain church. Praise the Lord he was
not hurt. There are 3 people at his church that are saved and awaiting
baptism. Thanks be to God!
We are now members of Cornerstone Baptist Temple in
Dayton, Ohio. Pastor Jerry Siler is our Pastor. Cornerstone Baptist
Church and Dayton Baptist Temple merged on April 1, 2001 and became
the Cornerstone Baptist Temple.
There is an intense political struggle going on
here in Indonesia at this time. Much prayer is needed! In the next few
weeks we should be better informed as to what will take place. We do
ask you to make this a matter of special and urgent prayer!!
Awhile back I drove a van load of preachers and
Bible school students to a preachers meeting in Semerang. It was a
blessing to be a part of this great meeting.
A SPECIAL THANKS TO:

conflict.
