Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,
Christmas Greetings from across the world! May God bless you, with
a blessed Christmas season.
On our way back to Indonesia, we stopped in California, and spent a day
with Carole's brother, Craig. It was so good to see him, after so
long a time. We also stopped over in Singapore ,and spent a few days with our
good friends, Dan and Sharon Moore, missionaries to Singapore.
Arrived back in Indonesia in Sept. Our churches were doing well,
for which we thank the Lord. Shortly after our return , we were invited to the
wedding of the daughter of Pdt and Ibu Prihadi. This family have been in
the ministry many years, and it was a delight to be at the wedding.
In October, Ibu Mei, the wife of Pdt Robin, one of the men we work with, gave
birth to their third little girl. They named her Deborah Michelle
Octavayana Widya Iskandar Jaum. We praise the Lord, that Michele is
healthy, her Mother had a very difficult pregnancy, was in and out of the
hospital, also contacted hepatitis B. Please keep Mei and baby Michelle
in your prayers.
Around Oct 25th, Mt Merapi, the volcano located about ten miles from us, began
to erupt. Over a period of 16 days, it erupted more than 9 times in a
large way, and there were many small eruptions as well. 175.000 people were
sent to refuge type places. There was only room for 40.000. The housing
complex we used to live in , in the city of Magelang was included in the
evacuation process. Many people were killed due to the eruptions and a
great many were put in hospitals. A man who claimed to have the spirit of Mt
Merapi in him, was found burned to death , as were many others. A few
days ago, it erupted again, but thank the Lord, it was not a big eruption.
One of the recent eruptions, was the largest from Mt Merapi, in over 100
years. Mt Merapi is still on highest alert, and could erupt again soon.
Please pray that it will settle down. Please keep us, and all concerned,
in prayer. We do so thank you for your prayers thus far, and for Gods
watch care over us, and so many others.
It is difficult to be away from family during the holidays. For Thanksgiving
this year, Stanley and Melinda Ewing opened their home to 8 families to
celebrate the big day. We are so thankful to them both, for their kind
and caring hearts. We drove ten hours to be there; for the special day.
One of the pastors we work with, Pdt Yohanes Solman, recently baptized 12.
We rejoice with he and his church. He is actually pastoring two
churches now, as one of the churches lost their pastor, due to his death from
cancer. Pray for he, his wife Puji, and their two sons Adit and Bima.
There will be many Christmas programs in December, and the Gospel will be
shared. Pray for this special time to share the Old, Old Story of Jesus
and His love. Thanks so much for your prayers, your support, your
caring. Have a Wonderful Christmas!
Listening for the trump, Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
