Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,
March Two young
people were saved and
baptized in the Independent Baptist Church of Prayer in
Yogyakarta, where Pdt Julius is the Pastor. The pastor's wife's
Mother, Ibu Samon passed away on March 22nd ,and Carole and a lady from the
church prepared her body for burial. She is now with the Lord.
May On May 11th ,Ibu Swarni accepted the
Lord and was baptized from Pastor Julius's church. On May 16th, Carole's
Mother, Trudy Curtis went to be with the Lord she loved. After much
prayer, we decided to go home for her funeral. We landed in Columbus,
Ohio on the 23rd, and her funeral was on the 24th in Norwalk, Ohio. A
special thanks to our Pastor Jerry Siler for his part in Mom's funeral.
And, we want to say how very much we appreciate all of the love and care,
Carole's sister, Darlene Chappelear, and her daughter in law, Peggy Chappelear
gave Carole's Mother in Darlene's home, for the past six years.
While in the states for two weeks, we were able to see our children and
grandchildren, sisters and brothers, as well as some friends and other loved
ones. A special thanks to Jeff and Steph Blackburn for loaning us
a beautiful van to drive while we were home. We also thank George and
Hazel Blackburn for their kind hospitality, and we thank our children and
grandchildren for all they did, Dave, Sue and Alex Ross, and
Steve, Jody, Cory, Benji and Maggie Ross, Carole's sister, Darlene Chappelear,
and her step Mother , Mrs Julia Curtis who lives in Kentucky.
June On June 1, it was our privilege to
be in our home church, Cornerstone Baptist Temple where I spoke for the adult
class. Our church provided the money for our airfare home and back to
Indonesia, and we are very thankful.
Arrived back in Indonesia
on June 10th, and on June 14th our revival began at Pdt.
Julius's church. On the last day of the revival, Carole felt very ill
and she came down with a sickness called chikungunya, caused by a mosquito
bite. She was in bed for 12 days, but is fine now. Thank you for
your prayers on her behalf.
July Saturday, July 5th we met the plane when
Pastor Jerry Siler, and Bro. Jim Muncie came to visit. Their stay here was a
real blessing to our people, and to us. We visited several of the
churches that we work with, while they were here. We introduced
them to the Administrator of our Bible Institute, Pastor Yakub and Bro. Muncie
spoke there. On Sun morning, Pastor Jerry preached for Pdt. Julius, and
then we had a baptism of a young girl by the name of Seni.
On Monday, July 7th till the 12th we went to the Annual Youth Retreat.
The count was 150 plus children. Everyone will long remember this
special meeting. Pastor Jerry Siler's unique way with young
people and exciting preaching style, and Bro. Jim's humble heart and good
message will remain a wonderful memory of their visit here.
Both of these men showed love and kindness to all they met. We were told that
many made decisions to follow Christ more closely, and four young men
surrendered to preach the Gospel. Praise the Lord! On Sat the 12th
of July, Pastor Jerry and Bro. Jim flew back to the states, and we were sorry
to see them go. But, our hearts were full of gratitude because they came
to minister with us, and to us.
On July 14th we had a nice visit with Dr.
Luke Wibowo, his son Stephen, and his dear Mother. Cammie and Tim were not
able to be here. This fine family are members of our home church.
God bless you all and thanks so much for your love and support for our
ministry. Please keep us in your prayers. Things are heating up
once again, and we are looking to the Lord for His protection.
