Dear Pastor and Christian friends, OCT. 2006
“What can I do” is a saying we hear sometimes and
what happened in Ecuador these last months really relates to that saying. We
had 4 groups come to Ecuador and help in the building of some Sunday School
rooms.
Nueva Vida Baptist Church: The Northside Baptist Church
of Carrollton, Texas, Bro. Mark Dallalio is the pastor, came to Ecuador with a
group of 17 people to help the Church build some rooms for Sunday School. A
second floor roof had to be built and that was done with cement, steel, and
cement blocks. That job was completed in 3 days and a retainer wall was built
in back of the Church to keep mud and water from coming into the building.
The group also brought a puppet show that was a BIG HIT
with everyone. They had a ladies workshop and children’s meeting. Painting
was done on some walls and a mural was done in the Children’s classroom.
The Baptist Church of Guayllbamba: The Mt. Zion Baptist
Church of Jasper , Georgia, SouthPoint Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida
and the Whitehouse Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida with 22 men from
these 3 Churches came to help in the building of Sunday School rooms for two
different Churches. In
Guayllbamba a roof had to be put in place on a large steel frame on a second
floor. Walls had to be built and painting done to the Church building. A
beautiful mural was painted in the baptismal wall. During this time, some of
the group was working on another building in another town.
The Independent Baptist Church of Tabacundo: About half
of the group went to Tabacundo to help pour a second floor “loza” which is
done by cement, steel and cement blocks. The cement had to be mixed in the
street and passed up to the second floor via buckets.
What can I do…There is a lot to be done and these
Churches came and helped both financially and with manpower. There are some
other areas of the country of Ecuador that need help. Thank you for your
faithfulness to Charlene and me.
