TERRY and TAMI MORSE
WBF Missionaries to
FRANCE
September 20, 2002
Dear Friends, Last night we started again the English Club. We
had two new contacts, two ladies. And we have received as well, several
phone calls, people promising to come. One lady in particular just moved
to the area, and thus will be seeking friends. She promised to come the
next time, as they were just moving in. Our goal in offering this club to
our village is not only to help them speak English, but to give us contacts, and
we pray that these contacts will turn into fruit, souls that will be saved.
Last week we finished distributing the flyers for the
English Club and the Chalk Drawing. Please pray with us that the people we
have invited will come to this meeting, which will be the 29th of Sept. We
have made a list to people to invite as well to our Mystery Night, which is an
activity to replace Halloween. It will be the 26, Saturday, of October.
We will be looking for about 18 to 20 people total. Each person acts
out a part, and at the end the moral is revealed. One of the characters
who is killed by the mob, and is of course the central personage, is Christ.
Last year I was able to talk to the group at the end, to explain what had took
place, but more importantly, to share the Gospel with them. The goal is
the same this year, and we are praying that souls will be saved. Last year
there were not any that accepted Christ. We have about 20 that came.
Of course the Catholic churches still exist, but over 80 % of the buildings are
empty.
We are praying that the Lord will pour out His Spirit
on our valley. We are the only New Testament Church here, that is organized, but
there is a small group of people that meet once a month in St. Jean, and also
another in St. Michael once a month. Both groups are under 10 in number.
It is the Reform Church that does this, and I know somewhat the doctrine they
teach, and I would be surprised if they preach the same Gospel as we do, or that
their people were saved.
Please pray for us. Our field of service is
difficult, as most of Europe is. Satan has such a strangle hold on this
valley, has had for centuries, and the level of unbelief is simply incredible.
I was amazed at the response last week to a visit. I handed the flyer of
the chalk drawing to a woman, and how she did it I do not know, but with a
glance that lasted not longer than a second, she must have picked out the word
"Bible" because she snorted , "Ah la Bible!"
Sarcastic, of course. She turned and walked away immediately. But
our friends, that we spend time with regularly, are slowly coming to accept what
we believe, and sometimes they enter in to our beliefs with us. Noel, for
example. I have known him for nearly three years. One night late I
received a phone call, and this stranger just wanted to talk. His brother,
Rene, whom I have witnessed to many times, told him about us, and Noel, hurting
as he was, called me up. Several months ago, I twice presented the gospel
to him. He responded the last time like King Agrippa, almost convinced,
but not quite. That is a far cry from our first conversations, in which he
said he did not believe at all that there is a God. These people have
never been exposed to the truth, they have never heard what the Bible teaches,
and it takes time for the "strangeness" to wear off. From the
door knocking I have done here in the valley, I would be very surprised if even
.5% of these people are born again. Of the 50 plus villages that I have
visited, I found only two people that claimed to have been saved, as the Bible
teaches.
Well, enough of your time. Thank you for you
help. May God bless you, wherever you are ministering.
In Christ,
