Hello Friends,

As I wrote last week, we visited again today up the mountain where we met the 5 young men.  Only one was there today,  Auguste, and we talked a bit.  He was not ready to make a decision, but I might try to get him to play basketball with me, as he likes the sport.

After that, Mauri and I visited Jacques Teuahau again.  He is the cousin of André that I mentioned last week who was very interested in what we presented concerning the Gospel.  Well,  today he was all alone, and he continued to ask questions about the new birth, salvation, Adam and Christ.  He asked some good questions, and at the end of our 30 minute conversation, he prayed to accept Christ!   Praise the Lord!   He was unable to come to services last Sunday because he had to tend to a family dinner (he is the only son) but promised to come this Sunday.

Jacques was born on the Australes Islands , of which Rapa is one of five.  He works as a sailor on one of the supply ships that sail between the islands, and I guess he is one of the crew that takes the supplies to shore when the ship cannot pass the reef.  They have a 50 hp outboard, with a kind of longshore boat, with which they pass over the reef laden with supplies.  He said they count the waves, and wait for the biggest, then ride it over the coral reef!   I believe it is the most dangerous job here in the islands, and is mainly done by the men from the Australes.  He is very stout, like André, and appears quite strong.  I know this: if he planted his feet, I could not move him!  But the danger involved in his work made him pray a lot he said.  What a joy that he accepted Christ!

We only had 7 again Sunday.  The promised visitors did not come, but there is always this Sunday.

Mauri, the 56 year old Tahitian that goes soul winning with me is quite a fellow.  He quit the Sanitos church (a break off from the Mormons) when he found in reading the Bible that their doctrine is wrong.  He knows his Bible and loves to go soul winning with me.  I praise the Lord for him, and André.  But in walking up the mountain today, Mauri told me a bit of his life.  He left the Sanitos church as well over a split that he caused.  He is a black belt in Tai Kwon Doe (spelling?) and was a national champ.  He was responsible for training the President’s guard.  Anyway, half of his church did not like it, so it split.  But      Mauri, the 56 year old Tahitian that goes soul winning with me is quite a fellow. But he gave it up, even though he was responsible for many clubs and many students.

Because he comes from the Mormon church, we are proceeding slowly with he and his wife, Tevai.  Please pray for them, that the Lord would help them to grow .  I know this one thing : he has been invaluable in helping me already, because he translates into Tahitian for those who do not speak French well.  Even though Tahitian is dying as a language, people 40 years and older still use it as their first language.

Thank you for your prayers and support!   Without you, we could not be here and we could not share the Gospel with these dear people.

God bless you and yours,
