TERRY and TAMI MORSE
WBF Missionaries to
FRANCE
July 31, 2003
Dear Friends,
We returned from camp several days ago, and we appreciate your prayers for
the three weeks there. The camp, Le Camp de la Bonne Nouvelle, ("The
Camp of the Good News" or the "Camp of the Gospel" ) is about 7
hours away in the south western section of France. There were 43 children
that came, aged between 9 and 17, and as the name suggests, the good news is
that 9 made a profession of faith in Christ and at least 11 others made various
decisions for the Lord! The structure that Paul Dédéyan, (Ind. Bapt.
Missionary for 30 years here in France) has established is very good;
there is a Bible lesson in the morning, and a preaching service in the
evening. Three weeks of Bible usually has a great effect on the hearts of
all that are there, not just the kids. Two of the older children, Raissa
and Jean-Christophe, that were saved come from a Catholic home, and it was a joy
to see the differences in their faces after their decision!
Jean-Christophe seldom smiled before, but afterward he smiled all the time.
Raissa and Tirzah "hung out" together and I personally was very
pleased to see the way my daughter encouraged her. It is a blessing to be
able to have had a small part in the ministry of the camp this year.
Your prayers are greatly appreciated, and along with the many others who
prayed for this ministry, are a key factor in the results that were seen.
The spirit was very good I felt, and we did not have a lot of discipline
problems. Of course, I don't see all that takes place, as does Paul and
André the second director, but in years past the problems were much
greater. Our part of the ministry was helping with the music, the sports,
and preaching. God bless you for your part in this ministry!
We are planning a contest for the church come September. It
basically focuses on evangelization, and the people of the church will earn
points by giving out tracts, witnessing, visiting others, memorizing verses,
bringing visitors, etc. The title is "Un regard sur le Monde" (A
look at the World) and we will have a "luau" dinner to help the
campaign. It will run for 6 weeks.
Nearly every one is on vacation here in France. We had a good
service last Sunday, with 7 visitors. A new couple has been coming, David
and Isabelle, who recently moved to the Maurienne Valley. They are from
Belgium. We often have 4 or 5 different nationalities in the
service. Last Sunday we also had a Hollander come, and we might have more
in the 2 or 3 weeks to come. Last year we had several families that came
during August.
Laurent, the director of the music school where the children go, will be
coming over in a week or so to listen to the girls play the hand bells. I
want to start a Children's Choir, and he seems very favorable about it. Please
pray that all will go well, and that we can use this new ministry as a door to
reach the people of our valley. We have lived here in the valley about 5
years in all, and just recently have we felt that the people are finally
accepting us. In fact, we have some good friends, but they all need
Christ.
Thank you for praying for us! We could not be here without your
support, both in prayer and in finances. May God bless you richly for your
faithfulness regarding the work here in France!
