Dear Friends,

We had an good week here in the valley.  Sunday we had a first time visitor for our regular service, Isabelle, who believes strongly in God as a Catholic, but has never accepted Jesus as Savoir.  She talked about coming to our Tuesday night Bible/Prayer meeting too!  She has promised to come to our Easter Service, and Francis and their 3 children as well!  The chalk drawing is something they saw at Christmas, and they are interested in the one we will do at Easter.   Please pray that Francis, Isabelle  and her family will be saved.

Yesterday we attended the funeral of a friend's mother.  Noel Rolle has been a friend for 5 years, and he has heard the gospel from us two times. Once during a meeting to which he came, and the time when he and his wife came over for dinner.  But what a sad time.  The priest gave a message with a bit truth mixed with lies.  At one point he asked of the congregation, "Who among us does not believe in the virgin Mary?"   Clearly a rhetorical question!   It is so sad to have all those people there, and the preacher failed to give them any hope.  But we will be visiting with Noel and Natalie this week, and we are praying for the chance to present again the Gospel, the Good News, the hope that we find in Christ.

In door to door Friday I visited with a fellow for some time.  He was very open, and of course, was not from our valley.  His family has a large farm in the north of France and he sells the vegetables and potatoes here.  (He lives here and goes up north once a week.  He gave me a sack of potatoes, they are very good!)  Anyway, as I was talking to him, a guy with a long pony tail walked up.  He was quite friendly too!  Seems he moved from the north of France as well.  He does a single act in bars, etc, he sings and plays the guitar.  He talked about going to the "lady healer" in that village, "she is quite good" he said.   She never touches his back or legs, but just passes them over and around.  He said, "I feel a power, a energy, and it really helps me.  I feel much better."   The other fellow asked, "How long does it last?"  Well, it is not permanent, I guess.  I hear more and more about these "healers."  But Tami is going to make a cake and I will take it up there this week, and invite them to eat with us soon. Praise the Lord for another contact.  He (the first man, I did not get his name) really likes Americans!  That's a plus, and maybe someday he will be open to this American's God.

Several weeks ago, I visited again with Mme. Cohendat, who is 84, a widow, and lives along in a village way up in the mountains.  I met her door knocking 2 months ago.  We presented the plan of salvation to her, and she wanted to accept the Lord.  But when we were praying, a guy came up, and started up his chainsaw right outside of her door, and started cutting up some wood for her!   I was praying hard that there would not be any distractions, (I heard the guys coming, talking among themselves) but it was not to be.  She did say she wanted to do as we suggested, and in fact did so.  But the chainsaw was so loud it it took away her attention.  Satan does not like anyone in his territory!  I have seen this many times here in the valley.    Whether she really accepted Jesus, I do not know.  She has promised to come to church, in fact has a granddaughter in our village. The problem is that she depends upon others to get around, and come down the mountain.  I know as sure as I am typing this letter that that person will try to talk her out of coming.  I will visit again soon, and repeat my offer to come and pick her up.  It takes about 25 minutes to get up there, even though it is just above us.   I am praying she will come for Easter.

We have the service in Modane this Sunday.  I will be inviting several people that I have met knocking on doors there recently.  One lady was a JW, but got out of it because of what she saw them doing.  She is open minded, though, and maybe she will come and hear the truth presented at the service there.

Thank you for praying for us.  We sure do need your prayers, for nothing else other than the Lord can bind the powers that control this valley, and let the people of the Maurienne see the truth.  God bless you !!!
