     Since our letter of March 15, we left our work in Cayambe in the hands of those we have discipled and trained, traveled to the U.S., and are currently enduring a barrage of medical tests. Regarding my health, we rejoice to report that the apparent blockage of a coronary artery, which showed up clearly on images taken by my cardiologist in Ecuador, was simply not present when I had a heart cath done in Savannah, Georgia a few days ago. While this is great news, and an answer to prayer, I am still having some problems which doctors are investigating. Jane is also getting a full checkup, which will hopefully ease her asthma, which has grown worse lately. She is also undergoing physical therapy for problems in her shoulder and back.

      Living and ministering in a Third World environment is not without its occupational hazards, many of which are health related. Over time, I suppose the lack of access to proper care has caused us to neglect some illnesses, so we are committed to taking advantage of this unexpected time in the U.S. to take care of our maladies. Please continue to pray for the Lord's direction and provision for our family.

       In our absence from the field, news from the work is encouraging. On Saturday, March 31, two teams from our Children's Bible Clubs in Cayambe traveled to Quito to participate in a national Bible Quiz competition. Out of over 100 Bible Clubs, one of our teams won first place, and the other came in second in their category. On Easter Sunday two new believers were baptized. We are trusting that our hopefully brief time away will serve to strengthen the commitment of the brethren of our churches to serve and provide leadership.
