Establishing Churches in Ecuador

February 8,  2005

Dear Praying Friends,

Over the past few months we have rejoiced to see a steady stream of individuals come to make decisions for Christ.  In virtually every outreach of our current ministry in Cayambe, our regular services, ladies’ and men’s fellowships, youth programs, AWANA Clubs and Jane’s counseling labors, we are in a time of harvest of souls.  Some have made their decision to be saved after years of prayer and witnessing; others are being reached and won through new contacts.  One couple recently accepted the Lord following the tragic death of their daughter.  A young man Jane had been treating for a learning disability was saved a couple of weeks ago, and I had the privilege of baptizing him and his mother and brother this past Sunday, along with several others.  We will write again soon about more of these new converts, but for now we would like to share a pressing need for which we covet your prayers.

After nearly two years of standing in long lines, countless phone calls and email communication, filling out stacks of paperwork and generally being frustrated by the whole process, this Thursday is the “big day” when we hope to be issued our children’s visas which will allow them to travel to the U.S. and finally become American citizens.  Tomorrow we will be making the long trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador, where we will meet with Department of Homeland Security officers at the U.S. Consulate there for the (hopefully) final crucial interview.  Please pray that all will go well, and that the Lord will be gracious to allow us to secure the visas without further delay (and expense), and thus be enabled to prepare for the furlough we hope to take starting in the summer.

Also, we would appreciate your continued supplications for our health.  I am getting over a bout of pneumonia, and Jane is suffering from ills, including extremely low blood pressure, which may require diagnosis and treatment from specialists which are not readily available here.

In His Care,
Ben and Jane
