Dear Pastor and Friends:
I was in the living room at home yesterday checking
the news just after lunch. Dottie came out of the bedroom and asked me if
I felt the earthquake. I said no and we waited a few minutes and she
went back into the bedroom and I continued checking the news. The next
thing I knew our whole house started to sway back and forth. The doors
and windows were making loud noises, the lights and fans were swinging
back and forth and as I yelled for her to get outside she came running
out of the bedroom and we both made a mad dash for the outside. We were
out in the yard for a few minutes watching to see if our house was going
to withstand this or not. Then it was over. We thank the Lord that when
it was all over we only had a crack around one of the columns holding up
the roof of our house and a picture fell off the wall in the church.
We had our second anniversary service on the 7th of
October and we had a wonderful day. We had all day services with dinner
on the ground, as we use to say. The church was completely full and
quite a number on the outside. We estimated between 150 and 160. We
never did get a correct count. People were coming and going all day. But
the good news is that we had 10 people accept the Lord as their Saviour.
We would like to ask you to help us pray for Frank
Tomokane. He was raised a Catholic and got saved a few years back and
has recently started coming to our church. He has never been baptized.
He is now talking about being baptized. Please pray that he will follow
the Lord in baptism and be faithful to serve Him.
We would also like you to help us pray for Bobby, my
song director. He is from the Philippines and is an accountant and has
been working on Saipan for 10 years. The Lord has been dealing with him
about preaching. He has been a tremendous help with the work since we've
been here. In all the years I have been a missionary I have never had
anyone to help me like this man. Pray that he will be like Samuel and
say, "Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth."
Please continue to pray for us also and the Lord's
work here in the Islands.
Thank you for your many prayers and may God continue
to bless you all.
In
Him,
David & Dottie McClure
