August & September 2004

Dear Pastors and Friends:

Here it is the first of September and still my computer is not working. I brought it home, turned it on and it went out again. I guess at this point one starts looking at new computers. Hopefully, this month we will get all these computer problems solved. I am in the same shop in Montego Bay using their computer again.

We continue to have wonderful church services. We have had 10 professions of faith in Christ in August. We hope for many more the rest of this year.

The neighbor family has taken us into two new areas visiting, where more of their relatives and friends live. We are seeing quite a number from these areas come to church. One young lady from this area was stabbed in the chest two weeks ago by her baby's father and he missed her heart by one inch. She has since accepted the Lord and her sister, as well. We have several young people attending church faithfully from that area.

Of course, we have not been without problems. Satan is always around trying to stir up trouble.  One young woman, who has been attending church and was recently saved got into a fight with her aunt and tried to stab her with our cake knife after a work day at the church. We were not very happy about that. The whole church was upset. We had a prayer meeting and asked the Lord to take care of this problem for us. The Lord worked immediately. These two ladies settled down, asked forgiveness and they are friends again. The next service everyone was rejoicing at how the Lord had taken care of this problem.

We met an American family living and working in Montego Bay and they have been coming to our services for the past few weeks. They have been a great encouragement to us. Pray that these along with many more will come to know the Lord before its too late.

The government has made many changes to their work permit's for foreigners. This includes us. Since 9/11 everyone has been tightening up their security and changing their laws. From what I am understanding, we will have to pay about $500. US dollars for every three months we stay in Jamaica. We must also go through a thorough back ground check and they will keep track of us to make sure we are doing what we are supposed to be doing.

Please continue to remember us in your prayers. Thank you for your prayers and support. May the Lord bless each or you.

PS. 1 would like to remind you that we do not have an e-mail address in Jamaica because we do not have telephone land lines where we live. If you have been sending e-mail to us at Juno we are not receiving it. We must go back to the old fashion way of communicating, by mail or telephone.

                                   Sincerely in Christ,

                                             David & Dottie McClure
