Dear Pastor and Friends:
July and August have passed so quickly that I can
hardly believe it is September. We signed the papers on the property for
the new church on June 28th. We started to work immediately filling out
papers for a building permit to remodel the old warehouse and make it
into a church building. The people of the church started to clean out
the warehouse. It was filled to the top with old and new carpet and
junk. It took us three weeks to clean it out and about a month to give
everything away and take the rest to the dump. When it was finally
cleaned out we all stood in amazement because it looked so big. I think
it was at that point that we all got excited about this new building.
While we were doing all this work on the building,
Dottie was running the paper work. One day she went to the Dept. of
Public works and they told her that the building permit was ready but
they had run into a problem. It seems that the government had reinstated
the zoning laws from 1992 on June 29th, the day after we signed for the
new property. They told her we could have the building permit if the new
zoning administrator said OK. They told her to go to the new zoning
office and talk to the administrator. She made an appointment to see him
and found out that he had no staff or helpers and he was the only one
working on the whole Island in the zoning department. She talked with
him and begged for an OK but he worked with her for two hours and then
loaded her down with a book of rules and regulations that we must
follow. She came back and told all of us who were working and we all
began to pray. After spending about two weeks and a thousand dollars on
paper work she went back to see if everything she had done so far met
with his approval. He told her that he was so busy and he had no staff
and that he just didn't have the time to work with her on this project.
She asked him how she was supposed to get the building permit without
his approval. He told her that he would call the building permit office
and tell them not to hold up our building permit because he just didn't
have the time to help us. She went immediately back to DPW and told
them what he had said and they told her not to worry but go ahead and
work on the building. The Lord is good. We got the building permit and
yesterday the inspector came with Dottie to inspect the electrical and
they were talking when he asked her if she wanted him to do the final
inspection while he was there. She asked if he could do that. He said
yes. So now we have the building roughed in, the electrical work in and
the inspector gave us our final inspection and we now have our occupancy
permit and the building is far from finished. But thanks be unto the
Lord we are finished with the paper work and the inspections. I have
always believed that prayer changes things.
Please pray for us as we work on this building and as
we work to win the lost to the Lord. The 49-year-old lady who had never
read the Bible got saved and we will baptize her on Sunday. Thank you
for your prayers and support.
In
Him,
David & Dottie McClure
