July & August 2006

Dear Pastors and Friends:

We were able to purchase 2 more vans for the work here. This gives us a total of 4. We had 3 drivers but one driver has gotten himself into some trouble and we had to relieve him. We are in need of another driver for the third van and we will use the fourth for a back up.

I just finished putting the name and phone number of the church on one van. It took me the whole day. I think I realized I am not an artist. We take a van with the Church's name on it and go into a village, park and pass out tracts door to door. We want them to know who we are and that we are not a cult.

We had such a wonderful six months that when the first of June came and school let out for the summer I thought the Rapture had happened and I was left behind. School let out the first of June and the Micronesian Games were scheduled for Saipan this summer. All the Palauans came from Palau and took our church people out of the church to help house and feed them while they were here for the games. The Ponapeans came from Ponape and there went the Ponapeans and the Yapese and of course only the very faithful stayed to attend church. Then we had a mass exodus of the kids going to Guam, Palau. Yap and Hawaii to stay with relatives for the summer. So for the months of June and July our attendance, visitation and soul winning hit rock bottom. I don't know about everyone else but I will be very happy when everyone goes home and comes home and back to school.

I knew when we had all those people getting saved and baptized and burning their idols Satan would cause problems but we never knew to what extent. It seems like every family in the church is going through hard times right now and so much wickedness on every hand. But the Lord is still in business. We have had 14 saved during the months of June and July and our every Sunday baptisms have started up again. We have baptized for the past three Sundays. Thank the Lord our attendance is also increasing again. The building was almost full last Sunday.

The price of our electric has just increased by 150% and gas prices are just under $4 and on the increase. Our living expenses have doubled. The government, they say, is almost bankrupt and there is a brain drain in every sector of the work force. The economy has hit rock bottom.

Well, if we make it for another couple of months we will write again. With the war in Israel going on and escalating I believe Christ is coming again. So if He does come just keep up the good work and we will be out of here to be with Him. We hope you can find the time to pray for us, and the work in Micronesia.
