May & June, 2007

Dear Pastor and Friends:

We want to thank you for your prayers. The volcano has calmed down, the earthquakes have stopped and we have had no more tsunami warnings. In other words we have had a very pleasant few months.

The Lord gave us two more van drivers but one had some problems and had to return to his Island and now we still are in need of another driver. The Mother of the family from the Philippines found work here in a school. The employer told her to go to work immediately and she would do her paperwork with Labor but she did not and someone made a complaint to the Department of Labor. They investigated the case and found the papers had not been done and they were about to deport the Mother. We had quite a time with this problem for a few weeks. We advised the Mother to leave voluntarily and not let them deport her and the Dept. of Labor agreed and she had to leave. But they were gracious and are allowing her to return to a new job in 4 months.

The Lord has also given us a long-term property for our Church and we are all so excited. The property was repossessed by the bank and put up for auction. We cannot buy property here but we can lease it long term. The bank sold us the 38-year lease. Now instead of 3 years remaining on the old building which seats about a hundred people, we have this new property for the church that will seat, hopefully, three times that amount. On this property there is a large warehouse that was used for storage in the past. But with a little remodeling, will make a lovely church. Maybe I should rephrase that statement and say with quite a bit of work it will make a lovely church. Please pray for us as we begin to work on this building. The building where we are now is almost full every Sunday and the Lord gave us this just when we needed it.

The Lord has been continuing His blessings upon the work. When school let out this year we didn't have the exodus we had last year. Even though several families did leave for their Islands our building is still almost full. We have been having visitors every service and last week we had 5 adults saved and baptized. Last year we had 2 young ladies and their brother saved and for the past two weeks their Mother and Dad have been attending services. We would like to ask you to help us pray that this Mother and Dad and many more will come to know the Lord as we preach and visit the people here on Saipan. Thank you for your prayers and your support it is deeply appreciated. May the Lord bless you all.
