February, 2006 Dear Pastors and Friends: James called me one day about 5 weeks ago and wanted me to go visit his relative in the hospital dying with cancer. I met him there. She was already in a coma and there was no response whatsoever. Her husband, Stanley, was in the room sitting in a corner and 2 other ladies by her bed. I sat down and started talking to her but still no response. I remembered that sometimes a person can hear even though they cannot respond. The woman dying was a Catholic. I opened my Bible and read to her the way of Salvation. I told her to pray in her heart for the Lord to save her. Still there was no response. We all prayed for her but she died the following day. She was 41 years old. We have regular church visitation every Saturday. We have been having quite a number of people come out for visitation since we started this Church last October. About 3 weeks ago Dottie and two other Ladies went together. They decided to visit Stanley to see how he was doing. Dottie led Stanley, his daughter and nephew to the Lord and one of the other Ladies led his wife's brother to the Lord. After Stanley accepted the Lord, Dottie proceeded to show him Scripture pertaining to idolatry. She showed him in Deuteronomy where God said not to bring the accursed thing into your house or you will be a cursed thing like it. (This whole Island is just about given over to idolatry.) She showed him the verse where God said to burn the images with fire. She showed him in Exodus where we are not to have any graven images or any likeness of anything in heaven above or earth beneath and told him that the true worshippers worshiped God in Spirit and in Truth. She told him to burn his idols. Last Thursday I received a phone call from James and BJ. They told me that Stanley had called for me to come to his house and help him burn his idols. The three of us went to Stanley's house and he had one whole wall full of idols and we helped him burn them all. He told me that his wife woke up before she died and asked him to remove the crucifix and rosary beads from her neck. He believes she heard me when I was telling her how to be saved. I surely hope so. I baptized his brother-in-law, his daughter and I baptized Stanley this past Sunday. We had 14 people saved and 11 baptized in
January. We had 37 saved and 17 baptized so far in February. We will be organizing the Saipan Independent Baptist Church on Sunday March 5th, 2006 with 55 charter members. We have baptisms planned for the next two Sundays. Adults and whole families have been accepting the Lord and burning their idols. We are truly enjoying the blessings of the Lord. Thank you for your prayers & support. May the Lord bless you all. In His happy service, David & Dottie McClure Taking God's Word to the Islands US ADDRESS: P. O. Box 13459, Arlington.
