Dear Pastor and Friends:
In November I decided I would go to the Clinic near
our house for a physical check-up. I had been feeling a little tired but
otherwise, all right. After they did an EKG the Doctor came out and told
me that they had concluded that I had had a heart attack. I knew he was
wrong when he said it and I looked at my wife and she looked doubtful
too. He told me that the EKG showed that I had had a heart attack. I had
no symptoms of a heart attack. He then told me that there were silent
ones. My wife's two sisters are nurses and they both confirmed that
people did have silent heart attacks. Then to make matters worse a
member of our church told me that her dad had died of a silent heart
attack. By this time I was feeling pretty sick. The Doctor then told me
that I needed a stress test but there was just one problem. There was no
one to give it and if one were given there was no one to read it. He
suggested that I go to Manila. We decided that Texas sounded much better
than Manila.
After much consultation with my wife we decided Texas
would be better. I contacted Brother Raley and Linda got me an
appointment with Bro. Raley's heart Doctor and we made plans to leave
for Texas. We told the church members what had transpired with the
Doctor at the Clinic and that we had to go and get tests done. Our song
director was appointed to do the preaching and all the men told me not
to worry they would take care of everything. How wonderful.
We arrived in Texas on the 4th of December and my
appointment was on the 6th. After many days of tests, X-rays and EKG's
the Doctor said I did not have a heart attack but he still wanted to put
me in the hospital for one more test to see if had any blockage. We
left the Doctor's office and stopped at a supermarket and I gave the
keys to Dottie and told her to drive because I was sick. She told me I
was taking advantage of the situation. She pulled back out onto the
street and we were in the left lane at the light. Our light turned green
and the next thing I knew a car came whizzing through the light and hit
us and knocked us spinning into the car that was in the right lane.
After everything stopped spinning I got out to assess the damage. This
woman had run a red light and hit us. Dottie was the only one hurt but I
thought this was a good time for my heart attack. After the car accident
and this last test I decided maybe we should have stayed in the Islands
where it's safer. We only have to deal with Tsunamis, earthquakes and
typhoons there.
All my tests came out normal and no heart attack. We
left the "Cold" State of Texas feeling pretty good until we
got on that big 747 out of Detroit headed for the other side of the
world. This flight was 14 hours and we were the last two seats in the
tail and that big plane shook, rattled and then would drop. This went on
for many hours. Needless to say, the Lord took care of us but we got in
quite a bit of prayer time on that flight. The entire trip back to the
Islands took us 27 hours flying time. We arrived back safe and sound at
1:10 AM and quite a crowd from the church met us. They were so excited
that their prayers had been answered. Mine too. It was good to put my
feet on the ground.
The Church building was almost full on Sunday Morning
and we had one man saved and baptized. The Lord is good, His mercy
endureth forever. Thank you for your prayers and support.
In
Him,
David & Dottie McClure
