Shelby and Stella were approved as World Baptist Fellowship missionaries to Singapore in 1968. The Mayos have served in that country as well as New Zealand and Indonesia. In 2002 their ministry led them to Hawaii.
Shelby was saved in 1958 at a tent revival meeting at Branch Hill Baptist Church. Stella was saved at the same meeting.
The Mayos were married in Wayne, West Virginia in 1953. Their sending church is the Bible Baptist Church of Clearwater, Florida.
They have four children,
