Dear Prayer Partners
June 2008
Thanks be to God. This month we received a tremendous
answer to prayer. The Immigration and Naturalization Services approved
Atalias' request for a Travel Document. This will permit her to remain
outside the USA for an additional year without losing her green card.
Without this document, we would have been required to return to the USA
prior to January 9, 2009 to maintain the validity of her green card. This
would have been very expensive for us seeing as we are anticipating
returning for furlough around July/August 2009. Thank you to all of you
who prayed with us on this matter.
The new ministry that Atalias has started with the
young ladies of the church is going well. Although it is much too early
to see how much of a difference it will make in the lives of these young
ladies, we are expecting great things from God. In September, we hope to
begin a similar ministry for the young men of the church.
Please pray for two of our dear ladies, Irma Leu and
Irma Josefa. Both of these ladies have husbands which attend a church
that is semi-radical and Pentecostal in nature and is wide spread in
Brazil, the Congregacao Crista do Brasil (Christian Congregation of
Brazil). This church teaches that if the wife is not submissive to her
husband then he must dominate her into submission. Truly sad since the
Biblical method of Ephesians 5 is to love her into submission. On top of
this, Irma Josefa has a son heavily involved in the Seven Day Adventist
Church and publicly declares that his mother is not saved because she
was not saved in his church and does not keep the Sabbath. Please pray
for her as she gets it from two directions.
On the lighter side, the other night in our Kid's
Club some of the children began to call Atalias "Avo" (Grandmother). She quickly asked, "Are you
saying I'm old?" Their reply was; "No, but haven't you and
Pastor stated that our parents, in type, are your children in the Lord?
Then, that makes us your grandkids." Who says kids aren't creative
thinkers these days.
On a personal note, I would
ask that you pray for my father, Gene Lantz. This last May he twisted
and broke his ankle in two places. The day after surgery to put in a
plate and screws, he required an additional by-pass surgery to restore
circulation in the same leg. After a short stay, he was transferred to a
rehab center where after a few days there he developed a staff infection
at the point of the by-pass surgery requiring him to return to the
hospital where he remains to this day. Although he is recovering well
from the staff infection, his overall recovery is not so good.
Discouraged after being hospitalized for more than a month he is not
eating as he should to get the nutrition necessary for a full recovery.
Since he has refused a feeding tube, the prognosis for recovery is not
good and he is beginning to slip away. As such, we are finding it
necessary to make a quick trip home to the states to take care of
things.
Once again, thank you for your prayers on our behalf.
Please continue to pray with us that we will continue to see an even
greater Harvest of souls for the honor and glory of our Lord Jesus
Christ in 2008.
All Because of JESUS,
Jerry & Atalias Lantz
