MISSIONARIES TO HONDURAS
  MIKE AND DEBBIE LANE
May – July 2008

Dear Faithful Praying Friends,

How wonderful it is to be writing from Honduras again.  We arrived last week…I drove accompanied by missionary  Jim Foster and Debbie flew down.  It was a tough trip and took 8 days to accomplish.  Satan really tried to hinder and I arrived pretty well exhausted, but in time for our evening service at the New Hope Baptist Church here in La Esperanza.  The majority of our people have been faithful and our leaders have done an excellent job while we were gone.  They have won souls and taken care of seven churches and missions in our absence.  Winning souls, planting churches, and raising up leaders is what it is all about!  Also, praise God for the two new church buildings constructed in our absence that we had arranged to be built before we left.  One is in the mountains among the Lenca Indians.  I believe it is the first church in our department to be built among the Lencas.  This is especially challenging  because the town has to give approval for building as the property is owned communally, not individually.  Some communities are still resisting a non-Catholic church coming in.  Keep praying for open doors.

There was a question as to whether we could enter the country with our F350 8 cylinder truck, but thank God there were no problems.  We hope to ship our other Ford 450 down later in the year, but we are trying to get the permission now while we can.  I want to say another special word of thanks to Brian and Rhonda Dolan of Dolan Directional Drilling for the tremendous blessing of the donation of the trucks for the ministry here.  May God so richly bless them!  Also, I want to thank my uncle, Buddy Creech, and his church, First Baptist of Achille, Oklahoma, and my cousin Stacy and her husband Russ Ortiz for buying us a horse trailer and for their donations to the ministry of Honduras.  We used the trailer to bring some things down for the ministry and home and will use it as a utility trailer when groups come down to visit.  And speaking of visits…we are excited to welcome a visit in July by our home church Calvary Baptist of Grand Prairie, Texas, and our pastor Brian Loveless.  This is their first trip to see us and we can’t wait to show them the work and our people.

Thanks to all that have prayed for us during my bout with prostate cancer.  Treatment has gone well, but the PSA count is still not down all the way where we want to see it so I will be returning for a few weeks more treatment in September.  The Lord truly blessed us to find the Victory Baptist Church of Del Rio, Texas, where we attended and I preached nearly every week while we were there and I was receiving treatment.  They are a precious group of people and have become real friends to us.   While there, 10 Latinos were saved in the prison and 3 other patients were saved from the clinic.  I was privileged to baptize a couple from Canada, Murray and Bev, who accepted Christ.  Their excitement and the change in their life has been a blessing to all who know them.  We have arranged for discipleship materials to be sent to them and have located a good church or two in their home town of Surrey, British Columbia.   I was also able to lead a black man to the Lord in Grand Prairie, TX, that had run into my parked truck.  He has since visited our home church.  Debbie also taught in VBS at Calvary, our home church, and several accepted Christ.  Please pray for all these new converts from America, various Latin countries, and Canada.  God has been so merciful.  Please keep praying…We need your prayers very much!

In the hollow of God’s Hand,

Mike and Debbie Lane
